House of Samosas Has Over 30 Flavours (Even Sweet Ones)

#summervacay We finally made our way to House of Samosas at MacPherson Road — and honestly, it was way more fun than we expected. What started out as a humble family-run project has grown into a full-on flavour playground, with over 30 types of samosas ranging from savoury to sweet, and classic to downright unexpected. Every samosa is fried fresh on-site, and the pastry was one of the first things we noticed — super flaky, not oily, and somehow still crunchy even after sitting for a while. It’s the kind of texture that makes you keep reaching for another one without realising. We started with some familiar favourites like curried mutton and butter chicken — both generous with filling and big on flavour. But where things got really interesting was the fusion section. Think black pepper burger, nacho cheese with jalapeños, and even one stuffed with chow mein. The chow mein samosa was a standout — stir-fried noodles and veggies packed into that crispy shell gave it a satisfying crunch and bite in every mouthful. The vegetarian options are just as creative. We spotted mattar paneer, beetroot feta, and a cheesy quiche version. It’s clear a lot of thought went into making sure there’s something for everyone. And we couldn’t leave without trying the dessert samosas. We had our eye on the apple crumble, key lime pie, and s’mores — all wrapped up in that same flaky pastry. The apple crumble one was a surprise hit — warm, fruity, and not too sweet. Perfect with a cup of masala chai, which they also serve in a clay cup if you’re dining in. They also offer a range of dips to go with the samosas — from butter chicken masala and mint to vanilla custard and black pepper. Each one added something different, and we kind of wish we tried more of them.
