All menus are served in small clay jars. The price is not expensive, only about 20 baht (you can order to take home, and they will give you a jar). It has a history of more than a hundred years. It was originally called “Kao Hong Road” because at first there were only 9 buildings on this road or 9 rooms. In 1935, Songkhla Province organized a New Year’s event and a beauty contest for Miss Songkhla. The winner who became the “first Miss Songkhla” lived on “Kao Hong Road”. Since then, Songkhla people have called this road “Nang Ngam Road”. Most of the houses on both sides of this road are classic wooden shophouses that are over a hundred years old. They are a combination of Chinese Hokkien and Sino-Portuguese architecture (similar to the old town of Phuket). In addition to the beautiful houses that are worth a visit, another famous highlight is the restaurants. There are more than 30 shops to choose from, many of which are old shops that are almost 100 years old.
