Ayutthaya, Thailand Tourist spot Ayutthaya is a town located about 80km north of Bangkok. It was once the capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom and can be called the ancient capital of Thailand. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1991. The famous Wat Mahathat is a Buddha head surrounded by tree roots.
