A Solo Hike to Sun Moon Lake (Taiwan)

I got up early in the morning. The weather was very cold. I saw the weather forecast that it would be cloudy and rainy today, but it did not affect my plan for today - hiking in Sun Moon Lake. Sun Moon Lake is located in Yuchi Township, Puli. I go there several times a year to ride a bicycle around the lake. This is the first time I have thought about walking. Who says that good weather is necessary for traveling? In my opinion, a good mood is much more important than good weather. I simply packed some water and food and drove to Sun Moon Lake. There was no one at the Xiangshan Visitor Center in the early morning, which was very different from the usual bustling scene. This low-key and elegant exposed concrete building appeared cleanly in front of me, so beautiful. I parked the car and started my hiking journey from here. Walking along the lakeside trail, everything around me seemed particularly fresh. The lake surface is rippling, and the scene of water and sky merging into one seems like being in a painting. Birds in the woods occasionally chirped, and I took a deep breath, feeling the fresh air nourishing my soul, and my irritable thoughts disappeared completely. It is rare to have the opportunity to calm down in such weather and carefully experience the changes in nature. Occasionally, raindrops gently fall on the brim of my hat. Apart from the sound of rain falling on the brim of the hat, the quietness and calmness make me closer to myself. My thoughts are like ripples on the lake, gradually becoming calm and clear. This is not only a hike, but also a journey of dialogue with nature and ourselves. I got a cramp at 21k, so I stopped on the side of the road to rest for a while and then slowly moved forward again. Even so, every step is an experience, and every step makes me cherish every moment in life more. I hope I can set foot on this land again in the future and dance with nature.
