Suzhou Gardens - The Exquisite and Elegant Lingering Garden

Lingering Garden, along with the Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou, the Summer Palace in Beijing, and the Mountain Resort in Chengde, are known as the four most famous gardens in China. It is a representative of Qing Dynasty gardens. Originally built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Lingering Garden underwent several changes and renovations during the Qianlong to Tongzhi periods of the Qing Dynasty, after which it was renamed Lingering Garden. However, it fell into disrepair in the 1930s. The Lingering Garden we see today regained its splendor after renovations by the Suzhou government in the 1950s. ✅Main Features: 1️⃣Crown Cloud Peak: The soul of Lingering Garden, it is said to be a relic from the Song Dynasty's Huashigang (Flower and Rock Transport). It is the tallest Taihu rock in the gardens of Jiangnan. It embodies the beauty of "thinness, elegance, wrinkles, and translucence," as if it were a work of art carved by nature itself. 2️⃣Five Peaks Hall: The main building in the eastern part of Lingering Garden, commonly known as the Nanmu Hall. Its beams and pillars are all made of nanmu wood, and the screens are made of mahogany, ginkgo wood, and large pieces of Suzhou silk, showcasing its luxury. The marble screen on the west wall of the back hall is said to be from the Cangshan Mountain in Yunnan. Its size, material, and patterns are rare in Jiangnan and even the whole country. 3️⃣Hanbi Mountain Villa: The main building in the central part of Lingering Garden, it is divided into north and south halls.
