Shaanxi Taibai Mountain Aotai Line The Aotai Line is a route that runs through the Qinling Mountains between Ao Mountain and Taibai Mountain. It is the highest section of the Qinling Mountains and is known as the "adventure on the Chinese dragon's spine." The Aotai Line is a name given by hikers to the main route that runs through the Qinling Mountains between the two main peaks of Ao Mountain and Taibai Mountain. The main peak of Taibai Mountain, Baxiantai, is the highest peak in the eastern half of mainland China, with an altitude of 3,771.2 meters. The second highest peak is Ao Mountain (also known as West Taibai), with an altitude of 3,476 meters. Ao Mountain is known for its steep slopes and lack of supply points along the way, while Taibai Mountain is known for its long route and stunning scenery. The Aotai Line, which runs from Ao Mountain to Taibai Mountain, is over 40 kilometers in a straight line and over 170 kilometers in actual distance, making it one of the five most difficult hiking routes in China. The section from Ao Mountain to Taibai Mountain is the highest section of the Qinling Mountains. The route is rich in flora and fauna, with stone sea relics scattered throughout, and is shrouded in clouds and mist all year round, with ever-changing weather conditions. The climate in the Aotai area is more complex and changeable than in other mountainous areas, with four seasons in one day and frequent occurrences of strong winds, heavy rain, hail, thunderstorms, thick fog, and snow. Due to its glacial landforms, the peaks are steep and the stone sea is vast, and water sources are scarce during the summer crossing. The Aotai Line is shrouded in mystery due to its unique natural geography, towering grandeur, and ever-changing climate. Its high altitude, difficult climbing conditions, unpredictable weather, harsh climate, large temperature difference between day and night, long uninhabited areas, and seven days of heavy loads make it a dangerous route with no safety facilities or signs.
