Lin Wuhu Fortune Telling House - Lin Family Ancestral Home

The Lin Family Ancestral Home, also known as Lin Wuhu Ancestral Home, is the first shophouse on Dihua Street in Dadaocheng. It was built in the first year of the Xianfeng era of the Qing Dynasty (1851 AD) by merchant Lin Lantian, who moved from Keelung to Dadaocheng to escape pirates. The ancestral home, visited by international superstar Masaharu Fukuyama and Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je, is open to the public for free as a charitable act, with guided tours by Lin family descendants every Saturday. The Lin Wuhu Fortune Telling House was established in 1864 and was one of the three major fortune-telling houses in Yongle Market at the time.
