The Taiwan Broadcasting Pavilion

Located in Taipei's 228 Peace Memorial Park, this pavilion-style structure was built in 1934 as an annex to the Taiwan Broadcasting Station. Its exterior design features a combination of Taiwanese-style roofs and Japanese stone lanterns. Loudspeakers were installed under the four eaves of the pavilion to broadcast news and music. During the end of World War II, Japan used the broadcast to convey current news, especially the Emperor's announcement of unconditional surrender. After the war, during the 228 Incident, the pavilion broadcasted civilian news. There are not many outdoor broadcasting pavilions built in Taiwan in the 1930s, and the one in Taipei's 228 Peace Memorial Park is relatively well-preserved, making it a valuable and rare historical site, designated as a municipal monument. 📍Address: No. 3, Ketagalan Boulevard, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City 100
