Jin Merchant Museum

The Jin Merchant Museum is located at No. 101, Fudong Street, Xinghualing District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, covering an area of about 100,000 square meters, with a building area of about 30,000 square meters, and an exhibition area of about 18,000 square meters. It is a local cultural and historical museum that integrates cultural relics and ancient buildings, garden landscapes, and exhibition displays, based on the former site of the Shanxi Military Governor's Office. The Jin Merchant Museum was once the location of the People's Government of Shanxi Province. In September 2017, the Shanxi Provincial Government relocated and the building was transformed into the 'Jin Merchant Museum'. The museum is mainly divided into three areas: the east area is the Republic of China lifestyle exhibition area, the west area is the tourist leisure service area, which is based on garden architectural landscapes to form an open regional garden, with stacked mountains and water, and tree planting and landscaping. The central area has existing buildings that combine Chinese and Western styles, spanning from the Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, to after the establishment of the People's Republic of China, with the central axis core buildings as the main body, divided into east and west routes side by side, with an overall intact pattern. The central route buildings consist of the main gate, the I-shaped building, the ceremonial gate, the Yuanyi Hall, the inner office courtyard, the Imperial Book Building, and Meishan, forming the core axis. The 'World of Jin Merchants' thematic exhibition is mainly divided into six parts: the preface hall, the origin of Jin merchants, dominance at home, connectivity to the world, the tea route over thousands of miles, and the spirit of Jin merchants. It outlines the significant events and achievements in the development of Jin merchants, comprehensively reproduces the splendid achievements of Jin merchants who dominated the business world for five hundred years across nine thousand miles of Eurasia, and presents from multiple perspectives the Jin merchant spirit of 'honesty and trustworthiness, pioneering and enterprising, mutual support, pragmatic management, and serving the community'.
