Twin Pagoda Temple - One of the Eight Views of Ancient Jinyang

Not long ago, I visited the Twin Pagodas of Zhuozhou. This holiday, I came to Taiyuan, which also has a pair of twin pagodas. The Twin Pagoda Temple in Taiyuan was built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Originally named Xuanwen Pagoda, it was named in honor of the "merit" of Empress Dowager Xuanwen, who funded the construction of the pagoda. The twin pagodas are both octagonal and 13 stories high, with a brick and stone structure, standing at 54.7 meters tall. They are the most complete, largest, and tallest twin pagodas in China. The two pagodas are 60 meters apart, with a harmonious style but unique characteristics: the southeast pagoda is made of plain bricks, with simple carvings and a slender body, giving it a majestic and beautiful appearance. The northwest pagoda has glazed tiles, with intricate and luxurious carvings, and a slender body, giving it a graceful and elegant appearance. The twin pagodas are a masterpiece of construction, with no nails or wood used in their construction, entirely made of bricks and stones, representing the epitome of Ming Dynasty beamless brick structures. The pagoda with glazed tiles is open to visitors. Climbing the 13 stories is no easy task, as the stairs are narrow, and each step is narrow, requiring sideways movement. It is impossible to pass others on the stairs, and except for the first floor, it is impossible to stand upright on each floor. There is not much to see, but for those seeking novelty, it is worth a climb. However, it is not recommended for the elderly or children, as the "cost-effectiveness" is not high.
