DjsensenIt takes 50 minutes by speedboat from Semporna town to reach Mabul Island. The water houses are very beautiful and the photos are especially good. There are also many Bajau children rowing boats and saying in Chinese: "Want to buy coconuts?" It's very interesting.

_TI***vfSipadan island is world famous and an amazing spot for scuba diving (sharks, turtles, huge colorful corals, etc) and also excellent for snorkeling.It is a really a must to order a guaranteed Sipadan permit in advance long before you get there are the number of permit per day is limited especially during peak seasons.Mabul island is the nearest and the best place to stay at as there are no resorts on Sipadan itself.

ewryMy child is in the summer before elementary school and is enrolled in an OW course a week in advance. We need to complete the theory course before departure, so we can go directly to the water course on August 3rd and 4th. We are required to check in at the dive center before 8:00 AM to collect and inspect our gear. One instructor and one assistant instructor are leading four students on a 45-minute boat trip to Mabul Island. On the first day, we dived twice, at 3-5 meters and 5-10 meters, practicing breathing, buoyancy control, pressure balancing, mask flooding, and using the backup valve. On the second day, we dived three times, at 5-18 meters, gradually increasing in depth. We also made emergency ascents and self-inflated life jackets. We saw turtles, various fish, and shipwrecks. The last dive was especially fun, with even more fish and a large shipwreck. Our instructor, Yihan, speaks fluent Chinese and is very experienced. If you don't understand something, be sure to ask questions and don't pretend to know, because you'll need to operate once you're in the water. I was very nervous at first, diving into the water with a back dive. I couldn't control my nervousness by mouth-breathing underwater, so I was breathing rapidly and feeling a bit panicky. I slowly found neutral buoyancy and gradually adapted. Bring diving socks and a wetsuit for sun protection and warmth in case of rain. The wetsuits provided by the dive shop are also long-sleeved and long-pants.
