🏡 Yumoto Choza – 3 nights and 4 days at a traditional Japanese ryokan filled with heart

Last year, my husband and I happened to find this ryokan while traveling alone in Japan. Since then, we've been singing "Let's go together" and finally, we went together this year. The route was quite complicated, so I hesitated, but I'm glad we went. 🚃 Directions (I'll share them in detail for those who find it helpful!) Chubu Centrair International Airport → Meitetsu Nagoya Station (Meitetsu Limited Express approx. 37 minutes) Tickets available for 11,000 won on Klook Korea Nagoya Station → Takayama Nohi Bus Center (Bus approx. 2 hours 30 minutes) You can also take the train, but we chose the fastest route in real time using Google Maps after arriving There's also a food court in the basement of the bus center! Takayama → Fukuji Yurimizaka Bus Stop (Bus approx. 1 hour) The ryokan is right in front of the bus stop! Just get off the bus and you're done. When I went, it was so complicated to get there that I thought, "What is this?", but when I actually went there, I thought, "I can go there again." ✨ Atmosphere & Interior It's full of the charm of an authentic Japanese ryokan. Wooden structures, antique furniture, traditional braziers, various rest areas... In a word, the "time-stopping tranquility" is attractive. There are various spaces such as a fireplace, a phone room, and a meeting room, and thanks to the large and complex structure, you rarely run into other guests. If you like European sensibility, you'll really like this style. ♨️ Hot Springs - Various, but a bit disappointing Inside: Private hot springs 3, public baths 2 Outside: Private hot springs 4~5, public baths 2 (across the street) The private hot springs inside are spacious and comfortable, so I kept using them. However, the outdoor open-air hot springs are blocked on all sides, so it's difficult to enjoy the hot springs while appreciating the natural scenery. If you are expecting a wide open view of Kurokawa Onsen, you may be a little disappointed. 🛏️ Room There is a small fireplace in the room, so it was nice to chat with my husband, and the bedroom was warm, but the ryokan as a whole is on the cold side. (It's okay if you wear multiple layers of yukata) There is no hot spring in the room unless it is a suite, and you have to use the public bath to wash. The bathroom is clean and neat. 🍽️ Food - The most impressive point of this ryokan! I was really impressed by the fact that they prepared different menus every day for breakfast and dinner. The taste was great, the portions were large, and I could feel the sincerity in each dish. Hida milk was truly the best milk in the world, and the coffee in the main hall was surprisingly delicious. Meals are served in the room, so you can enjoy them leisurely without having to meet other guests. I was completely satisfied with the quiet meal, the variety of menus, and the emotional space. 🧳 Other tips There is almost nothing around, so bring snacks, coffee, alcohol, etc. in advance Payments under 5,000 yen are only accepted in cash Most staff are friendly, and some staff speak foreign languages, so you can communicate in English 👥 Visitors & Atmosphere On weekdays, it is very quiet as most of the visitors are Chinese On weekends, there are many Japanese visitors, so it was a bit crowded I recommend it as a quiet resting place for adults rather than with children 💬 Overall Review (Personal Rating ★★★★☆ 4.5) ✔️ Pros Traditional interior and various spaces Different, hearty food every day Quiet and private resting space Great experience for the price ⚠️ Cons The view from the outdoor hot spring is disappointing The entire ryokan is quite cold (dress warmly!) Traffic is complicated (but you won't regret it once you get there) This is a ryokan I would like to visit again. I especially want to go back when the seasons change because I think the summer garden will be even more beautiful. I highly recommend it to those who want to completely rest and refresh quietly while feeling the tradition. #YumotoChoza #JapaneseRyokan #JapaneseHotSpringTravel #TakayamaOnsen #JapaneseTraditionalAccommodation #HidaFukuchiOnsen #JapanTravelRecommendation #japanryokan #onsenstay #TokyoSuburbTravel #JapaneseEmotionAccommodation #RyokanReview #HidaMilkRestaurant #QuietTravelDestination #hiddenjapan #relaxinjapan #healingstay
