Remnants of Ancient Roman Walls

Mediterranean Coast Tour of Spain ~ Tarragona (Region) Several sections of the ancient Roman walls and three towers have been preserved. The Roman walls of this city are known as Paseo Arqueológico (Archaeological Walk). They were built between the late 3rd century BC and early 2nd century BC. Only the upper parts of the old structures remain. The walls consist of several segments and three towers: the Cabiscol Tower, the Minerva Tower, and the Archbishop Tower. The Minerva Tower is the most traditional Roman tower, while the Archbishop Tower underwent modifications during the medieval period. These walls are part of the Tarraco Monumental Complex, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
