1 day trip on the snow wall ☃️ This time, we chose to buy a Pass --> JR alpine-takayama-matsumoto area tourist pass to cover travel between Nagoya, Takaya and Toyama. The main point of this trip is to see the snow wall at Tateyama. 🎟 JR PASS costs 5,500 baht per person. It is recommended to stay in Toyama in the evening before going to the snow wall because on the day you go to the snow wall, you should wake up early to catch the first train that goes straight to the snow wall. 🏨 Recommended accommodation: Toyoko Inn Toyama-eki Shinkansen-guchi No.2 Steps to travel to the snow wall ❄️ 1. Toyama Chiho Railroad: You have to go to Dentetsu Toyama Station to catch the Toyama Chiho Railroad train on the first round, which will leave at 5:18 and arrive at Tateyamaeki at around 6:09. The reason I wanted to go on the first round is because each step of the trip takes quite a long time. There is a queue at every step, and going early is more convenient for taking pictures. In this section, we can use the Pass to enter. The journey takes about 65 minutes. 2. Tateyama station: You have to exchange the JR PASS for a ticket for the Japan Alps route at the front of the station. You have to look carefully at this section because there will be a counter for exchanging JR tickets and buying regular tickets. Be careful not to get in the wrong line. When you arrive, you won't be able to exchange because the counter is not open yet. However, you can wait in line to be among the first to go up. At every step of the journey, there will be a stamp for you to stamp on a pamphlet. 3. Tateyama Cable Car: When you have exchanged your ticket, you will get a time slot for the Cable Car. They will call you for each round. You can go according to the specified round. The journey takes about 7 minutes. 4. Tateyama Highland Bus: When you get off the Cable Car, we continue to the bus. The bus will drive around the snow wall so that we can enjoy the scenery along the way. There will also be a TV screen in the bus to provide commentary. The journey takes about 50 minutes. 5. Murodo: The highlight of this trip is the location of the Tateyama Snow Wall. I recommend spending as much time as possible here until you are satisfied before continuing because this place is really beautiful. And if we travel to the other side, we will not be able to come back. But if we return the same way, we will be able to return to this point again. But in the afternoon, there will be a lot of people. 6. Tateyama Tunnel Trolley Bus: Next, we will take a tram through the tunnel through Mt. Tateyama to the other side, which is Daikanbo Station. It takes about 10 minutes. There is a heater in the car for your feet. I like it very much. 7. Daikanbo: There is a viewpoint on the rooftop. 8. Tateyama Ropeway: It will be a cable car that takes us to see the view and continue to Kurobedaira. It takes about 7 minutes. 9. Kurobe Cable Car: It is a ride down to Kurobeko Station. It takes about 5 minutes. 10. Kurobe Dam: You have to walk from Kurobeko to Kurobe Dam, but it is not far. I recommend walking. It is quite beautiful. 11. If you want to continue to Nagano, take the Kanden Tunnel Electric Bus and then the Express Bus. But if you want to go back to Toyama, go back the same way.
