Toyama 🇯🇵 Kurobe Dam

Kurobe Dam is Japan's largest arch dam, located on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route connecting Toyama and Nagano prefectures. Construction of the reservoir began in 1956 and was completed in 1963. It is 186 meters high, the highest in Japan, and generates about 1 billion kilowatts of electricity per year, enough for 330,000 households. The weir of Kurobe Dam has become a walking trail connecting Kurobe Dam Station and Kurobe Lake Station on the Alpine Route.
