🏰 Uchisar Castle, embracing the sky of Cappadocia

#EuropeanTravel Uchisar Castle, located at the highest point in Cappadocia, is a huge rock fortress overlooking the surrounding area from an altitude of 1,270m above sea level. It was used as a refuge for Eastern Romans to avoid attacks from the Ottoman Empire around the 15th century, and the stairs, tunnels, and narrow passages made at that time, as well as traces of pigeon houses dug to collect pigeon droppings, remain intact to this day.  When you climb to the top of the castle, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the town of Göreme, the surrounding valley, and Mount Erciyes in the distance.
