Spring Hiking Plan: Tengchong

Spring is here, and it's time to pack your bags and go hiking. This time, I went to the long-awaited Yunfeng Mountain in Tengchong. 📍Transportation: Take a bus from Tengchong Passenger Station to Gudong Town, and then take a shared car to Yunfeng Mountain. 🌟Highlights: ✅Yunfeng Mountain is a national AAA-rated scenic spot with an altitude of approximately 2,449 meters. Because the mountainside is often shrouded in clouds and mist, it is also known as the "Cloud Palace." The famous traveler and geographer Xu Xiake once visited this place. ✅Yunfeng Mountain has many historical sites. Climb to the top of the mountain to visit the Guanyin Pavilion, Jade Emperor Temple, and Laojun Temple to pray for family and friends. At the same time, you can also see the six-tiered cascading mountain scenery, which is breathtaking. ✅There are two main ways to explore Yunfeng Mountain. One is to hike up from the trailhead, but this takes a long time and can be physically demanding. The other is to take the cable car to the Queen Mother Palace and then slowly climb up the mountain. ✅Since Yunfeng Mountain is far from downtown Tengchong, it is recommended to stay here for one night. I recommend the Yunfeng Mountain Hot Spring Resort Hotel, designed by the architect Kengo Kuma, which also provides Yunfeng Mountain tickets for guests. ✅You can bring water for hiking at Yunfeng Mountain, but it is not recommended to bring dry food. For lunch, you can try the vegetarian meal on the mountain, which costs only CNY 20 per serving. It's affordable and delicious, so it's worth a try. 🌈Hiking Tips: ✅It's about 1.5 km from Yunfeng Mountain to the trailhead. To save energy, it is recommended to take the sightseeing bus for this section. Yunfeng Mountain is not very high, but the overall hiking difficulty is not low. ✅It takes about a day to hike from the trailhead, passing by attractions such as the First Stone of Southern Yunnan and the Queen Mother Palace, and reaching the Yunfeng Temple at the top. You can experience the fun of rock climbing while enjoying the historical relics. ✅The entire hiking trail is made of stone steps, surrounded by lush forests. There are iron chains for protection beside the steps. The steps can be slippery when it rains, so be extra careful. ✅The highlight of hiking Yunfeng Mountain is the "Three-Fold Cloud Ladder" from the Queen Mother Palace to the summit, which is also the first of the twelve scenic spots in Tengchong. The higher you climb, the steeper it gets, vividly presenting the real ups and downs. ✅Rainbows may appear on the north side of the accompanying mountain at the top of Yunfeng Mountain. It is recommended to use panorama mode to take photos. On the east side, you can overlook Sanqing Mountain, Tumushang, and other scenic spots. It's quite picturesque when the weather is good.
