Tirana's Pyramid - An Architectural Gem 🇦🇱

The Pyramid of Tirana, located in Albania's capital, is a significant symbol of the nation's controversial history. Originally erected as a museum in 1988, it was designed by Pranvera Hoxha, the daughter of the former dictator Enver Hoxha, and her husband Klement Kolaneci. Post the collapse of Communism in 1991, it served various purposes including a conference center and a NATO base during the 1999 Kosovo War. In 2018, a project was unveiled to transform the Pyramid into a youth IT center for Creative Technologies, focusing on computer programming, robotics, and startups under the name of TUMO Center Tirana. The renovated structure, transformed by MVRDV, opened to the public in May 2023. Today, it serves as a hub for conferences, workshops, technology centers, and entertainment spaces. #hiddengems
