Hie Shrine

Hie Shrine feels like a secret getaway hidden in the middle of Tokyo’s busy streets. The most magical part? The tunnel of red torii gates leading up to the shrine—it reminded me of Fushimi Inari in Kyoto, but with way fewer crowds! Walking through the gates felt like stepping into a different world. The shrine itself is gorgeous, with bright red details and peaceful surroundings. It’s said to bring good luck, and many people visit to pray for success in work and relationships. I also spotted a lot of cute monkey statues, since monkeys are considered sacred here. If you visit in June, there’s a huge festival with colorful floats! After exploring, I walked to Akasaka for some delicious sushi. Hie Shrine is perfect if you want a quiet, spiritual spot with beautiful photo opportunities—it’s one of Tokyo’s hidden gems!
