Around Shanghai | Tongjun Mountain in Tonglu: Spring is the Time to Climb Mountains

It looks like I'm probably going to miss the best time of spring. It's the season when spring flowers are in full bloom in the south of the Yangtze River, with lush grass, warbling birds, green willows, and red flowers. But the photos in my album are still from early spring in Tonglu and Jiande. It's time to go out and enjoy the spring with my baby. This time, I'm posting a set of photos from Tongjun Mountain in Tonglu, which I visited last month. Although the mountain is small, it has a rich history. - [Tonglu, Tongjun Mountain] Tonglu not only has Daqi Mountain, but also Tongjun Mountain by the river in the city. The name of Tonglu comes from this mountain. Legend has it that during the time of the Yellow Emperor, an old man built a hut here to make elixirs, practice medicine, and help the world without charging a penny. The villagers were grateful and asked for his name, but the old man did not answer. He pointed to the tung tree as his name, so the villagers called him "Old Man Tongjun". Later generations honored him as the "ancestor of Chinese medicine" and called it the holy land of the ancestor of medicine. The mountain is also named "Tongjun", and the county is called "Tonglu County". There is a stone tablet on the mountainside with the inscription "Tongjun Mountain, the Ancestral Land of Medicine", signed by Ge Linyi, a famous national Chinese medicine practitioner. - From the hotel window, you can see the white pagoda on the mountain on the other side. The mountain is not high, but you can overlook the Fuchun River from the top, but the visibility was not high when I went there. The scenery of Tonglu in winter is indeed greatly reduced. The most beautiful landscape in the south of the Yangtze River has to be in summer and fall. -
