Take the Shinkanzen at Shin-Tosu Station.

For the #NorthernKyushu trip, if you buy #jrpass, another way to save travel time is when you finish any tourist spots and are going back to #hakata, check if the train passes Shin Tosu Station. If so, get off at this station and change to #shinkanzen. It's convenient and fast. You can use the time you have to walk around other places in your #budgettrip as well...
