City Pillar Shrine, Trat

When visiting Trat, you must not miss the chance to pay respects and seek blessings from the sacred site of the city. The first step inside immediately catches your eye with the unique and colorful Chinese-style architecture. The intricate craftsmanship of the sculptures is so exquisite that it feels like stepping into a temple in the land of dragons. Inside the shrine, at the center, is the altar of the City Pillar God, Siang Eung Kong, flanked by two other deities: Cai Shen Ye, the God of Wealth, and Kam Tieng Tai Tee, the Earth God. Outside the shrine, there are two city pillar posts. The taller post represents the city pillar, while the shorter one symbolizes the Shiva Lingam. This City Pillar Shrine has long been a spiritual center for both Thai people and Thai-Chinese residents of Trat, from the past to the present.
