Wat Pa Sai Ngam, Ubon Ratchathani Province

Wat Pa Sai Ngam is located in the west of Det Udom District, about 1 kilometer from Det Udom Bus Station. It was established as a monastery in 1972, occupying a 25-rai public forest (cemetery) in Ban Talat. There were no large trees, it was dry and barren. Wat Pa Sai Ngam was founded by the people of Det Udom who believed in the practices of Luang Pu Cha Suphattho of Wat Nong Pah Pong. The people of Det Udom District went to pay respect to the monk to give them guidance on how to practice. Luang Pu Cha Suphattho kindly sent Phra Athikarn Anek Yasathino, who was originally from Det Udom, to be the leader of the group to reside at this monastery. It is considered the 10th branch of Wat Nong Pah Pong. Normally, this monastery has about 8-10 monks staying here every year. Since at that time, there were many temples that were part of the network of Wat Pa Sai Ngam, so they sent monks who were disciples to stay at that branch. Wat Pa Sai Ngam was completed in 2545. It currently covers an area of 130 rai. An 8-meter wide and 4-meter deep canal was dug, and the excavated soil was used to make a moat as a temple wall. Trees were planted instead of fences. It is difficult to disturb noises and announcements from the community because the earthen wall and tree walls help reduce the volume of noise. It also benefits from water as a clever way to store water, keep the trees moist, and is also a good breeding ground for aquatic animals. Many types of lotus are planted. It also helps reduce the temperature in summer very well. It won the award for the 2544 Permanent Forest Planting Project in Honor of His Majesty the King and received the Golden Pin Award from His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn on August 5, 2545. Wat Pa Sai Ngam adheres to the same teachings as Wat Nong Pa Pong. #VisitingHistoricalSites #MissingTheForestAndMountains #OurHeartsAreAtTheSea #WorthVisitingHomestays
