Imaizumi Yasaka Shrine was enshrined as a guardian deity to ward off evil spirits when Utsunomiya Castle was constructed in 1063. It was originally founded as Shinmei-gu Shrine, and in 1910 it was merged with Yasaka Shrine in Bakuro-machi, changing its name to Yasaka Shrine, where it remains to this day. There is a pond on the grounds, with a red bridge spanning it. There are also carp swimming leisurely, which we enjoyed gazing at for a while. The Komainu (little dog) and Komainu (little cat) are a kind of symbol here! They were donated by worshippers in hopes of the long life and health of pets.
