Monument of Phraya Pichai Dab Hak

The heroic deeds of Phraya Phichai Dab Hak, a patriotic hero who was determined to protect his cherished homeland. This monument was built to honor his bravery. The important event occurred in 1773 when the Burmese army invaded Phichai City. Phraya Phichai, the ruler of Phichai City in the Thonburi period at that time, led an army to intercept the Burmese army until they were defeated and retreated. In that battle, one of Phraya Phichai's right swords was broken, but he was still able to fight and win over the Burmese army. Because of this heroic deed, he was nicknamed "Phraya Phichai Dab Hak". This monument was designed and cast by the Fine Arts Department. The opening ceremony was held on February 20, 1969. Inside the area is the world's largest Nam Phi iron sword museum, which houses the world's largest Nam Phi iron sword, weighing 557.8 kilograms. The sword's scabbard is made of rosewood, inlaid with mother-of-pearl patterns, covered with carved silver sheaths, and the Phraya Phichai Dab Hak Museum, which collects the history of Phraya Phichai Dab Hak and a model of the battlefield.
