[Serbia] A house floating in the river!? Drina River House

Serbia is located in the Balkan Peninsula in Eastern Europe. The former Yugoslavia, which was the stage for the Kosovo War, is now relatively stable politically except for the border areas, and foreigners can travel there. A unique spot we found in Serbia is the Drina River House. A small hut stands perfectly balanced in the middle of the Drina River, which is the border between neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. About 50 years ago, this was used as a playground for local children and as a resting place when transporting lumber by river. It has been used many times in the past. It has been destroyed by flooding of the river, but each time it is restored with the cooperation of local residents... The reason this hut became famous was because it was featured in "National Geographic". Since then, many tourists have visited it out of curiosity. Although it is in a terribly remote location, the riverside has become a tourist attraction, and a stylish restaurant has been built where you can enjoy a meal while looking at the river. By the way, the hut is still in use, and the owner of the hut visits it regularly by boat. And it seems to be a livable environment.
