🚘 The journey is divided into 2 parts: 1. Travel from Chiang Rai city to the 4WD pickup point to Phu Chi Dao There are many routes to Phu Chi Dao, whether from Nan, Phayao, Chiang Mai, or Chiang Rai itself. If coming from Chiang Rai, we recommend taking the Thoeng District route, which is easier to drive. Set the GPS to start at the Thoeng District Office and then Phu Chi Dao. If you are not sure, we recommend asking locals often because the route can be very confusing. Eco cars can drive up, but the road is quite steep. You should have some experience driving up mountains. *Avoid Phu Long Tang, the road is very steep, but if you are a good driver, you can go. 2. Take a 4WD up Phu Chi Dao When you arrive at the Phu Chi Dao pickup point, you must park your car and take a 4WD from the community to go up. You are not allowed to drive up by yourself. The fare is 100 baht per person. It takes about 20 minutes to drive up 3 kilometers (the road is very steep). After going up, You have to walk for about 300 meters. The path is steep and has iron railings to hold on to. 🚌 Using public transportation: From Chiang Rai city - Van, get on at the old Chiang Rai bus station (Bus Terminal 1). It will go to Phu Chi Fa. It can drop you off at your accommodation and then contact the accommodation to drop you off at Phu Khi Dao. The fare is 400 baht round trip or 200 baht per trip. *The outbound bus leaves at 13:30 and the return bus leaves at 09:00. You should check the bus schedule carefully before traveling. There are very few buses. - Chiang Rai-Thoeng-Chiang Khong bus, get off at Thoeng District. There are buses every 30 minutes. The fare is about 33 baht.
