Erddig – A Timeless Treasure Close to Home

Erddig – A Timeless Treasure Close to Home I had the loveliest visit to Erddig today — my nearest National Trust property and honestly, one of my all-time favourites. No matter how many times I return, it always feels like stepping into a beautifully preserved story. Set just outside Wrexham, Erddig is a place that perfectly blends stately grandeur with a deep sense of warmth. The house itself is fascinating, packed with character and a unique collection that pays tribute not just to the family who lived there, but also to the servants who kept it running. It’s rare to find a property that honours both sides of history so thoughtfully. The gardens were looking stunning — especially the formal parterre and orchard areas. Today, the spring blossoms and greenery were bursting with colour, and I found a perfect spot on a bench to just take it all in. The walled garden and canal walk were especially peaceful, with birdsong echoing through the trees and the occasional squirrel darting past. It’s the kind of place that never feels rushed. Whether you're strolling through the house, wandering the grounds, or popping into the cosy tea room, there’s a calm, timeless rhythm to Erddig that makes it so easy to fall in love with. Best time to visit? Late spring into early summer is ideal — everything’s in bloom, and the estate is alive with colour and wildlife. Location: Erddig Hall, Wrexham LL13 0YT Parking: On-site and free for NT members Don’t miss: The second-hand bookshop and the vintage bikes on display! #erddig #nationaltrustwales #wrexhamdaysout #ntfavourite #historichomes #walledgardenwanderings #springaterddig #triprecommended #peacefulplaces #hiddengemswales
