Xiamen | Off the Beaten Path | Experience the Local Vibe on Xingfu Road

Although I'm a tourist, I prefer to avoid the crowds and visit places that are closer to everyday life. So, on my first day in Xiamen, I chose the 'Xingfu Road' route. I opted for the bus as my mode of transportation. Xiamen's buses are very convenient and affordable. After several days of traveling, the total bus fare was only 10 RMB. Take the bus to the vicinity of Zhongshan Park Metro Station. After getting off, just follow the signs towards South Park Road, and turn right at the intersection where you'll see a big 'Xiamen' sign. You can use 'Yuzhou Youqu Research Institute' as a landmark. From this intersection, you'll find many interesting small shops along the way. The quaint alleys mixed with modern decor are perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll. After turning left into Beimenwaijie, walk to the end and you'll see the Xingfu Road sign. The 'Ge You Tan' sculpture you see on the way is a popular photo spot, with many people lining up for selfies. Personally, I find the 'Be an Idle Person' spot across the street more interesting. The shops on Xingfu Road are particularly fascinating, with names like 'Xingfu Fruit Shop,' 'Xingfu Coffee Shop,' and 'Xingfu Repair Shop' everywhere. There are also a few must-visit shops on this happy street. I personally recommend January 17 and Tooth Decay Dessert. The former offers great American coffee, and you can leisurely watch people pass by from the entrance. The latter has excellent desserts, and even on weekday afternoons, many people come by. I tried the Burnt Grass Jelly and found it quite good, so I recommend it to everyone. I spent about 50 minutes walking, stopping, eating, and drinking along this route. I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the local vibe of Xiamen. It will give you a sense of relaxation and joy amidst a busy schedule.
