Kuhaphimuk Temple

Wat Kuha Phimuk, Yala Province This is an important and ancient temple in Yala Province. Originally, this temple was called Wat Na Tham, but was renamed Wat Kuha Phimuk during the time of Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram. Inside the temple, there is a large cave with a large reclining Buddha and many ancient Buddha statues. There are also beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. At the entrance of the cave, there is a giant statue, which the locals call Father Than Chao Khao. It is a concrete giant statue about 6 meters high. It is different from other giants in Thailand because Father Than Chao Khao is a forest giant. His appearance is similar to the Sakai forest ape, with bulging eyes. There are cobras wrapped around his neck and arms. He is standing and holding a baton. Inside the hall, there is a large reclining Buddha statue, 81 feet 1 inch long. The locals call it Father Than Bantom. This reclining Buddha is somewhat different from the others because there is a naga serpent stretching over the Buddha and spreading its hood over his head.
