Yamaguchi 🇯🇵Yamaguchi Daijingu Shrine

Yamaguchi Daijingu Shrine enshrines the spirits invited from Ise Jingu Shrine. Ise Grand Shrine is the most sacred and important shrine in Japanese Shintoism and the leader of all Japanese shrines. The inner palace is dedicated to the sun god, Amaterasu, who is also the main deity in Shintoism. Yamaguchi Daijingu Shrine was built in 1520 by Ouchi Yoshioki, one of the lords of the Ouchi clan who ruled Yamaguchi between the 14th and 16th centuries. Until the Meiji era (1868–1912), the only shrine in Japan that officially enshrined Amaterasu Omikami was Yamaguchi Daijingu Shrine, in addition to the inner shrine of Ise Jingu Shrine. Therefore, during the Edo era (1603–1868), it attracted many believers from western Japan who were unable to visit Ise Jingu Shrine due to the long distance. #2024Travel review
