An Italian cafe on the shores of Lake Yamanaka that seems straight out of a fairy tale

As soon as you turn onto the road along the shore of Lake Yamanaka, a fairytale-like building jumps out at you in the midst of the greenery. It's a quiet place, but it stands out. You arrive at Alm in the Forest, like a picture book world where you're strolling along the lakeside and suddenly another world appears before your eyes. Alm is German for a seasonal mountain hut, and apparently originates from the German-speaking part of northern Italy where the chef trained as a chef. The roof, doors, windows, and the whole building are squishy? The walls inside the restaurant are so thick that mobile phone reception is quite poor, and every little item is carefully crafted. From what I've heard, they're handmade by artists, and they're thoroughly particular about authenticity. Apparently it's run by a married couple, and before we were seated, they apologised and told us that it would take an hour because it was busy. We weren't in a hurry, and judging from the appearance of the shop, I thought it would be okay if the work was done carefully, so we took a leisurely stroll around the garden while waiting and took lots of photos, and the food actually arrived at our table in about 30 minutes. As expected, it was a delicious bagel sandwich (just over 1,000 yen, drinks from about 500 yen) with a side salad and potatoes.
