Although Yangma Island is a bit far from downtown Yantai, it's totally worth setting aside half a day to explore. The glass-clear sea on sunny days is breathtaking—Yantai truly has its own version of the Maldives! Most travel guides for Yangma Island recommend renting an electric scooter to tour the island. Unfortunately, my friend and I aren't the best riders, so for safety, we had to find alternative transportation options. **Routes:** **Option 1: Bus + Walking** - Walk from Tianma Square to Yangma Island Post Office, take Bus 617 to "Seawater Bathing Beach," then walk to "Zhang Island." - Walk to Longhai Hotel bus stop. - Take Bus 617 to Huangjiazhuang North Station, then walk to "Lotus Sunset." - Walk back to Huangjiazhuang North Station or another closer stop. - Take Bus 617 to exit the island (if you don’t want to wait for the bus, you can also hail a ride-hailing car—it's quite convenient on the island). **Option 2: Sightseeing Bus** - Take the sightseeing bus at the tourist center, but it might be unavailable during holidays due to traffic control. **Option 3: Electric Scooter** - A deep island tour by scooter. However, traffic can be heavy during holidays, and some sections might even be impassable. **Main Attractions:** 1. **Seawater Bathing Beach** - The only sandy beach on Yangma Island, where many people sunbathe and collect seashells. - If you’ve already enjoyed beaches elsewhere, you don’t need to linger here (Yantai’s Golden Sand Beach Park is a better option—less crowded and more scenic). 2. **Zhang Island** - Features numerous sea rocks, with incredibly blue and clear waters. - The spiral staircase and seashell caves are unique highlights. - A walking trail leads to the island’s center, but it’s often crowded. - Better to stroll along the path, enjoy the sea breeze, and admire the coastal views. 3. **Lotus Sunset** - The best spot for "jelly sea" views! - A narrow and steep walking trail leads down to the shore. - Great photo spots: - A lone tree near the viewing platform—perfect for portraits. - The mid-mountain walking trail for panoramic coastal shots—the layered hues of the jelly sea are even more striking from above.
