I've been to Hongcun Village in May, and I really don't recommend going then.

Hongcun in April is stunning🌿, with its pink walls and black tiles moistened by the misty rain, and the rapeseed flowers complementing the old houses, just like a slowly unfolding ink painting🖼️. Over these three days, I'll take you on a deep dive into the poetic charm and vibrant life of Hongcun, and help you capture the unique romance of Huizhou in spring✨ Itinerary Day 1: First Encounter with Ink-Wash Hongcun Morning: Arrive at Hongcun and stroll along the shores of South Lake🌊, admiring the picturesque bridge, the weeping willows, and the reflection of white walls and black tiles on the lake surface. Every photo you take will be postcard-perfect📸. Visit the South Lake Academy and immerse yourself in the centuries-old scholarly atmosphere. Noon: Savor Huizhou cuisine at a restaurant by Moon Pond🥢! Stinky mandarin fish, "smells stinky but tastes delicious," boasts tender meat; while the crispy outside and soft inside of hairy tofu, dipped in chili sauce, is incredibly satisfying😋 Afternoon: Explore Chengzhi Hall, marveling at the exquisite wood, stone, and brick carvings🏯. Wander through the winding alleys and canals, discovering hidden cultural and creative shops tucked away in old houses, and find a unique souvenir. Day 2: Exploring the Surrounding Nature Morning: Head to Mukeng Bamboo Forest🎋, where new bamboo shoots sprout in April, covering the mountains in lush greenery. Hike along the bamboo trails, breathe in the fresh air, and if you're lucky, you might even spot adorable squirrels🐿️! If you're feeling energetic, challenge yourself to reach the viewing platform, a filming location for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." Noon: Enjoy bamboo rice at a farmhouse in the bamboo forest, where the rice is infused with the fragrance of bamboo, complemented by wild vegetables, offering a truly authentic taste of nature🌱. Afternoon: Visit Tachuan, escaping the autumn crowds. In spring, Tachuan is tranquil and serene, with murmuring streams and ancient houses nestled among the green hills and trees, resembling a paradise🌳. Day 3: Immersive Huizhou Cultural Experience Morning: Participate in an intangible cultural heritage workshop and create your own Huizhou paper-cuts✂️ or She inkstone rubbings, experiencing the charm of traditional crafts. You can also learn how to brew Keemun black tea from a master and savor the tea's aroma🍵. Noon: Indulge in another Huizhou farmhouse meal, with delicious braised pork with dried bamboo shoots and refreshing scrambled eggs with five-leaf ginseng. Afternoon: Ascend to the Hongcun viewing platform and overlook the entire village, capturing the panoramic view of this spring ink-wash scroll. Embark on your return journey filled with cherished memories🚗. Accommodation Recommendations 1. Inside Hongcun Scenic Area: ◦ Deyuelou Inn: Located next to Moon Pond, open the window to enjoy the "ox's stomach" view🛏️. The rooms, converted from old houses, retain the Huizhou charm, and falling asleep to the sound of water is incredibly soothing. ◦ Jushantang: A century-old house with exquisite wood carvings, offering a traditional Huizhou breakfast and an authentic Huizhou living experience. 2. Around the Scenic Area: ◦ Qixian Wonderland Zhongkun International Hotel: A tranquil environment with lake views, perfect for a peaceful getaway, equipped with a swimming pool and a spa center💆‍♀️. Must-Do Activities in Hongcun ✅ Capture the morning mist over South Lake's picturesque bridge at dawn🌫️, and experience the poetic beauty of a "village in a Chinese painting." ✅ Stroll along Moon Pond at night and witness the magical reflection of lights on the water✨ ✅ Savor the "three treasures of Huizhou cuisine": stinky mandarin fish, hairy tofu, and Fang La fish🐟 ✅ Learn about the ingenious "ox-shaped village" design of Hongcun from a local guide🐂 ✅ Dress in Hanfu and take photos in the ancient alleys, transforming yourself into a "Huizhou beauty" in a painting👘 Important Notes It often rains in Hongcun in April, so bring an umbrella or raincoat☔. While the misty rain adds to Hongcun's charm, be careful as the roads can be slippery. There are many stone-paved roads in the scenic area, so comfortable flat shoes are recommended👟 Purchase souvenirs from reputable shops. Huangshan sesame cakes and Huangshan Maofeng tea are excellent gifts🎁
