[Kanagawa] Uraga, the birthplace of Japan

#Spring0yenTrip Uraga, which can be reached from Tokyo by JR or Keikyu, is a quiet port town in Kanagawa Prefecture, with an attractive history and seascape. The first place we visited was Uraga Port. Here, we could stroll around while looking out at the sea, and the ships anchored in the port and the view of Tokyo Bay in the distance left a lasting impression on me. Uraga also played an important role in the opening of Japan to the world at the end of the Edo period, and is famous as the place where Perry's fleet arrived. At the Perry Memorial Museum, materials related to the history of the end of the Edo period and the arrival of the Perry fleet are on display, allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of the events of that time. Furthermore, the town of Uraga is dotted with historical sites, such as the remains of the old Uraga Magistrate's Office and Tokoji Temple, and we were able to stroll around while feeling the history in a quiet atmosphere. Uraga was a place where we could spend a peaceful time while enjoying the historical background and seascape.
