A Secluded Ancient Village: A Travel Guide to Baiyingu Kenggen Stone Village

Deep in the Yunhe Terraces of Lishui lies Kenggen Stone Village, a 600-year-old village forgotten by time. As I stepped over the moss-covered stone steps and ran my fingers across the rough rammed earth walls, I felt as if I could touch the heartbeat of the Ming Dynasty artisans. This awe-inspiring journey through time, "Kenggen Stone Village" is located in the valley of the 5A scenic spot "Yunhe Terraces" and still retains the ancient residential style of that time. The annual temperature is 7 degrees lower than at the foot of the mountain, making it worth a special trip. 🚗 Transportation Guide ▫ Self-driving: Navigate to "Baiyingu Scenic Area", about 1.5 hours from Lishui city ▫ Bus: Take the "Yunhe-Meiyuan" urban-rural bus from Yunhe Bus Station (two shifts at 8:00/13:00) ⚠️ The scenic spot ticket is CNY 80 (including the joint ticket for the terraces + stone village). It is recommended to buy it online in advance. After visiting the Yunhe Terraces, you can change to Line 2 at Jiuqu Station to Baiyingu. Remember that the last bus is at 16:00, so don't miss it. (There is also an amazing homestay in Baiyingu, which will be recommended in the next article) 📸 Features 1️⃣ [Stone Village Maze] The 700-meter-long ancient lane is like a time tunnel. It is recommended to shoot from 7-9 am. The scattered stone houses in the morning mist have their own ink filter. The wildflowers sticking out from the cracks in the stone walls and the faded Spring Festival couplets on the lintels are all excellent foregrounds. 2️⃣ [Old Tea House Ruins] The tea shed where silver miners in the Ming Dynasty rested still retains the stone stove. The light and shadow of the window lattices are projected on the rough pottery tea bowls, which is suitable for overhead still life shots. The wooden corridor on the second floor can capture the classic angle of the terraces and the ancient village in the same frame. 3️⃣ [Seven Star Wells] The seven ancient wells are arranged in the shape of the Big Dipper. The deepest "Tianshu Well" can be photographed with a telephoto lens to capture the fantastic symmetry of the moss and reflections at the bottom of the well. The stone troughs beside the well are gurgling with water. It is recommended to wear Hanfu to shoot dynamic scenes. 4️⃣ [Former Residence of Yinguang] The three-entry rammed earth courtyard hides amazing details: pay attention to the swastika-patterned brick carvings on the lintel, the double-layered stone wall design used for anti-theft in the Ming Dynasty, and the "viewing window" on the second-floor wooden window facing the terraces, which can be called the wisdom of the ancients. 🥢 Featured Experience ▪️ Hand-ground soy milk: The old mill uses bamboo funnels to collect soy milk, which is super healing ▪️ Herbal dyeing workshop: Dye square scarves with Banlangen (CNY 38 experience) ▪️ Stargazing camping: Tents can be rented at the terrace viewing platform (reservation required in advance) 🍜 Local Cuisine ▫️ Copper pot rice: Preserved meat + dried bamboo shoots simmered with a scorched pot (recommended Lao Zhaimen Restaurant) ▫️ Dendrobium stewed native chicken: The medicinal materials are all collected by the villagers themselves (CNY 68/small portion) ▫️ Mugwort Mochi: Made by grandma, CNY 5 for 3, super conscientious 🏨 Accommodation Recommendation We stayed at the "Daocaocao and Jimumu Hotel" next to the visitor center, which is a parent-child hotel built with scarecrow + building block IP dolls.
