A countryside route in search of white waxberries, super CHILL

Route: Chenjia'ao Road—Zhangsun Village—Li'ao Village—Waxberry Forest—Highway—Stone Steps Up the Mountain—Wangxi Pavilion—Gangdun Village—Instagrammable Windmills—Tanao Ridge—Gangdun Village Tips: Both the convenience store and vending machines are located in Gangdun Village. The waxberries or bamboo shoots sold in Gangdun Village aren't cheap, but drinks and water at the convenience store are reasonably priced. The highlight of this hiking route is the white waxberries. Unfortunately, this year's waxberry season has basically ended, and white waxberries are nearly impossible to find. Luckily, we still managed to find one tree bearing white waxberries. As it's the tail end of the season, most berries on the mountainside trees were naturally withered. Later in Gangdun Village, we saw large waxberries being sold, so besides Cixi's small waxberries, there might also be larger Xianju-style waxberries here. Next year's waxberry season is definitely worth revisiting. If the rural scenery of Zhangsun Village and Li'ao Village possesses an unpolished natural beauty, and the windmill area offers a romantic countryside charm, then Tanao Ridge—the highest peak in Cixi—presents a vast Chinese landscape painting. The entire route is about 12 kilometers with over 500 meters of elevation gain, slightly more challenging than beginner level.
