2025 Geylang Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in February)
Hotel 81 Premier Star
Hotel 81 Premier Star is located at Lorong 16 Geylang. The location of this budget friendly hotel is great. It is near foodshops in Geylang. The hotel is nice and all the basic necessities and facilities are present. It is small yet surprisingly spacious in a way. I like that the sink is outside the toilet and shower, it’s really practical. There is fridge and television. The check in and check out was so fast. We just informed them that we’ll have late check in. It is also very affordable as we only got to spend $160 for 2 nights.

King Fruit Durian
Durian season is back & this time round with the oversupply of durians, prices are very competitive everywhere.
And here I am, at King Fruits Durian (水果王) in geylang. They have all varieties of durian, prices ranging from as low as $2 for 1 durian.
This time round, I didnt order MSW. I've decided to try the cheaper range. I've gotten 2 x $5 D13, 1 x $10 Red Prawn & 1 x $10 Sultan King. And it actually tastes quite good, given the price I've paid.
They have table & chairs for you to dine in & even provide small bottle of mineral water (self-service)
Overall, I think this is a nice place to come for durians. The staff are all very friendly & willing to help u choose the durians you want, even if you are buying the cheapest $2 durian.
Be there earlier to get good durians.

Authentic Vietnam BBQ In Sg
Address - 45 Lor 27 Geylang, Singapore 388177
Ambiance/Facilities - non-air-conditioned coffeeshop
Highlights - Vietnamese style BBQ & dishes
Avg. Price per Person - $10-25/pax
Rating - Went on Monday 1245pm and was glad to catch e last table available inside rather than 2 roadside tables under the sun. Coffeeshop was non-air conditioned but rather airy with fans. Ordered the bbq platter($39) that came w charcoal base with an additional order of seafood fried rice($7.90). As food gets cook on the charcoal, alot of smoke and heat constantly came around hence it started became rather hot and sweating to eat comfortably nor enjoy the bbq food. Foodfare wise was nt too bad otherwise. Could totally imagine during dinner service with 1 or 2 more tables ordering bbq it could have been worse! Will recommend to come experience once if one have not had authentic Vietnamese bbq before but perhaps not be re-visiting anytime soon due to its ventilation and heat, smoky environment. Would rather enjoy a korean/japan bbq much more w much lesser smoke given same heat condition.#foodie #本地遊 #
A Taste of Warmth and Charm
#singaporetrips
One of the highlights of my Singapore trip was discovering this quaint and cozy cafe. The warm green walls, wooden furniture, and eclectic decor created such a homely and inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to take a break from the bustling city and enjoy some quiet time.
I ordered their creamy mushroom soup paired with crispy garlic bread, and it was pure comfort in a bowl! The soup was rich and flavorful, and the bread was perfectly toasted with a nice garlicky kick. It felt like the ultimate comfort food, especially in such a relaxed setting.
What made this cafe special was the mix of vintage charm and artistic touches in the decor. From the unique wall art to the quirky shelf displays, there was so much personality in every corner. If you’re in Singapore and looking for a chill spot with great food and cozy vibes, this cafe is a must-visit!
🇸🇬 Purrfect Escape: SGCathouse Cat Cafe in Geylang
#newyearnewtrip Visiting SGCathouse Cat Cafe in Geylang is a delightful experience for cat lovers. Nestled in a cozy corner of the bustling neighborhood, this charming cafe offers a peaceful escape where you can unwind while surrounded by adorable, friendly cats. The cats here are all super social, each with their own unique personality, making for endless entertainment and cuddles.
Whether you're sipping on a cup of coffee or enjoying a light snack, it’s easy to lose track of time while interacting with the playful felines. The cafe is thoughtfully designed with cozy corners, offering a relaxing ambiance for both the cats and visitors. It's the perfect spot to destress, have some fun, and enjoy a few hours of furry companionship. Whether you're a local or visiting, SGCathouse is a must-visit if you want to experience the joy of cats in a tranquil setting right in the heart of Geylang.
Cheaper stay and friendly staff.
My current trip to Singapore, we stay at another Ibis budget hotel named Iblis Budget Sapphire Hotel. it is a simple budget hotel which has surprisingly big room with a Queen bed and a single bed with a big window (closed). just nice for a family of four like mine and for short stay.
it is near to public transport and lots of coffee shops and restaurants.
It's staffs are very friendly and helpful.

Geylang Streets
#travelanywhere
At Geylang, you must try out the king of fruit which is the durian. There are quite a few varieties of durian to choose from. This round I have ordered more of their king of fruits which is more superior. As the price is lower than musang Wang durian . If you want to try them out, you can visit here as there are many stalls there. Just like in Taiwan, we will always try out their red mango which is very sweet and delicious. They also have other types of mango to choose from.
Popular makan street

Geylang street is a place where you can find fragrance fruits as well as lots of popular dishes there. If you like steamboats and hotpots, you can try out some of the restaurants here that offer spicy mala hotpot .There are also dim sum available here. During the night time the place would be lighted up and there will be more crowds coming in . This brings back our travel memories where we enjoyed the night life when travelling in Bangkok . There are many shopping streets there open until late at night. We like the Ratchada area where there are many night streets.

It is the durian season again. Geylang is one of the more popular areaa where you can find many stalls selling fruits such as durian and many others more. Do visit in the evening time as the durian will arrive from 5pm onwards. You will definitely have an enjoyable meal here. It brings back my memories when we had our durian feast at the Bangkok city. we enjoyed the durian there too. Even though the breed might be different, they are both tasty and creamy . Best of all, we do enjoy the fruits.

Taoist Local Temple
#2024wish
My 2024 travel wish is to visit Xiamen. I would like to visit the sea of goddess there . I would also like to try out their local food there too. I hope to be able to visit their attractions and landmarks there to understand more about the city there .
The chong tuck tong temple is one that is located in the Geylang district. The temple helps those who want to give a second chance to their children to worship here and pray for their happiness here. The priest will conduct rituals to ensure that the children are in good hands.
Black and White Photography at Geylang

Geylang, Singapore, lends itself splendidly to the timeless allure of black and white photography. The heritage-rich architecture, with its intricate details and colonial influences, casts a nostalgic spell on the observer. The contrast between the vibrant street life and the monochrome palette creates striking compositions, capturing the essence of tradition amid modernity. From the ornate shophouses to bustling markets and serene alleys, Geylang's diverse scenes provide a captivating canvas for black and white photography enthusiasts. A visit to Geylang promises not just a glimpse into Singapore's cultural tapestry but an opportunity to immortalize its beauty through the evocative lens of black and white imagery.
Oldie Vibe Photogenic Shops for a Photowalk
#2024wish
Geylang, Singapore, isn't just a convenient cheap-and-good (usually alot of china imported products) shopping place but a visual feast for photography enthusiasts. The vibrant array of shops lining the streets showcases a unique blend of traditional charm and modern flair. Every corner of Geylang exudes its own oldie visual allure. The eclectic mix of cultural influences, coupled with the vibrant street scenes, provides an enchanting backdrop for capturing the essence of Singapore's diversity. Birthday Dinner At Geylang
#2024wish
My sister in law brought us to a zhi char store in Geylang to celebrate my birthday. Zhi char is a great store to order food from when it comes to a big group. We can order many dishes and share around. After dinner, we went to feast on durian. It was certainly a memorable occasion as I got to spend quality time with my love ones.
In 2024, I hope to eat zhi char in Malaysia with my love ones.
Zoological Garden
#2024wish
My 2024 travel wish is to visit the Fiji island. I hope to be able to visit the attraction there and find out more about the place there.
I chanced upon this place while doing my city walk at the geylang area. I stopped by and took some pictures. It seems like a Thai garden as there were Thai languages written on a huge stone near the entrance of the place. There were also Buddha statues and a few animal statues placed along the park with several plants along the way. There are also seats where you can rest after a long walk over there. It is not common to get such a scene in Singapore. Be sure to check out the place if you are interested to find out.
The address is at 460 Sims avenue
Nearest mrt station is at aljunied
Geylang Temple
#2024wish
My 2024 travel wish is to visit Perth. I would like to visit the king's Park and the kangaroo island. I would like to try out their fish and chip food there. I will definitely like the place there.
During my city walk at the geylang district I have been to the Guan Yin Tang temple located at the geylang district. The temple is inside the Shophouse. The main deity is the Guan yin Goddess. I prayed and showed my respect there when I visited the place. The temple is quiet as it is on a weekday morning. During the festive seasons such as the qing ming, the place would be crowded with followers and worshippers here.
I would recommend this place to visit if you are looking for a Buddhist temple at that area.
Geylang Park Singapore
What a nice view from our spot. The ocean, the trees and the beautiful people. You can also do biking and some zumba here 🤣 This place was good for picnics, family bonding and even a nice couple date! Highly recommended as well for those solo who wants to relax and just want to be by him/herself. #mytripvlog #singapore #asia #bucketlist
Can a straight person stay the night though?
Popular Durian Street
#2023travelwish #tripblazers
If you are a durian lover, then the durian season this time round is going to satisfy your cravings. At a low price of $10 to $13 for one kilogram of cat mountain durian, it is a must try. The price used to range from $25 to $35 in the past. Due to the increase in productions, as well as most durians from Malaysia coming into Singapore, thus the price has dropped significantly. Wait no further as the price will go by next month, when the supply is going lower.
My 2023 travel wish is to fly to Hainan Island. I love to visit Hainan Island once more. I love the coconut sweets, as well as their huge durian. I even saw mini cooked red lobster sold at Carrefour. It looks yummy. I would love to try them out the next time I visit Hainan Island.
Mega Carnival
#2023travelwish #tripblazers
I love carnivals and parties. I chanced upon the carnival parties located at the geylang west community centre. The party is filled with laughter and joy. Popcorn and cotton candy machines, games and prizes to be won. This would be my 2022 happiest moment indulging in the carnival.
I would love to visit the nice carnival in France one day. The carnival is a big one, where people wrote beautiful costumes, walking down the street. It is one of the happiest moment you could get.
Terra & Ember (wheel throwing)
#meetsingapore
Address: 475 Geylang Rd, Singapore 389434
This ought to be one of the more interesting activities for me. It is the wheel throwing workshop. Terra & Ember is located along Geylang Lorong 25, inside a temple on the second floor. It is a ceramic sculpting workshop and there are some things to take note of before beginning. It is a challenge to learn wheel throwing on the first attempt and each art piece is unique. It is also impossible to make a perfect art piece and even then, it might also break/chip during the firing process. The workshop feels very inviting with its warm colours. There are about 8 wheel throwing machines. Have fun in this workshop!
Training for the Army
112 Lorong 3 Geylang is located at Lorong 3 Geylang, Singapore 381112
The location of the public exercising area is at geylang lorong 3. To get there, take a green line MRT and alight at the kallang station. Take a 5 minute walk to reach the place.
As the exercising facilities are open to all in the public, hence there are no admission fees required. The place is open 24/7 and you can visit there anytime you want.
The instructions on how to use each of the facilities are clearly printed on the panel beside the equipment. You can train your biceps, triceps, abs, etc. If you are preparing to enter the army, you can consider training here if you are staying nearby.

Geylang Heritage Trail
Taking a walk at Geylang street brings you back to the days where you get to get some good bargains and enjoy great food at affordable prices. There are many salons offering haircuts for as low as $5 , as well as many provisional shops selling fresh vegetables and fruits. There are also many telecom shops where the foreigner workers would visit there to top up their SIM card or repair their mobile phone.
There is also the NTUC Supermarket and the sheng siong supermarket where you can buy some food back home to cook. There are ample parking spaces and most of the parking spaces are parallel parking. There are also many buses available that go to bugis and the city hall area.

The Popular Pig Organ Soup @ Jalan Besar
Jalan Besar is a place filled with many rows of food stalls, it is in a way also a food haven for many.
The Cheng Mun Chee Kee Pig Organ Soup located at 24 Foch Rd, Singapore 209263 is a corner shop house along geylang and it is hard to miss.
This place has been serving customers for decades that they have 2 outlets due to a family business going seperate ways, but both stalls are equally good.
I have a friend who doesn't really like pig organs but would only give in to this particular outlet, the broth has this aromatic umami flavour that you will see almost everyone ordering the same bowl of pig organ soup!
This place so open till 2am in the morning and is very popular among the supper crowd. Don't be surprise that this place is crowded with people even at 12 midnight on weekends. Definitely a great supper place ^^
