The mystery of the leaning tower of Teluk Intan
#100waysoftravel
The Leaning Clock Tower of Teluk Intan also known as the Menara Condong Teluk Intan is one of the main attractions of Teluk Intan...
This tower was built by a Chinese architect Mr Leong Choon Cheong and it was then a reservoir to supply water to the residents and also a clock tower....
The tower however no longer holds water but the clock still functions and chimes every 15 minutes...
This clock tower is situated between the intersection of the square plaza which is Jalan Pasar and Jalan Ah Cheong with Jalan Selat and Jalan Bandar on left and right side of tower.

Bingsu @ Teluk Intan, western food, etc
A newly opened cafe well worth checking out at Teluk Intan when you want to have western food would be KJK Cafe.
It has a menu that is extensive - range from burgers, chops, rice sets, curry rice for mains. In terms of desserts, what stands out here would be the different flavours of bingsu available, such as durian and black sesame.

Not Just Pisa – Visit Malaysia’s Leaning Tower in Teluk Intan!
#summervacay
Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan – A Malaysian Marvel with a Tilt
The Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan, also known as Menara Condong Teluk Intan, is one of Malaysia’s most unique historical landmarks. Located in the town of Teluk Intan in Perak, this striking pagoda-like structure stands proudly as the town’s iconic symbol and is often dubbed "Malaysia’s own Leaning Tower of Pisa."
Built in 1885 by a Chinese contractor named Leong Choon Chong, the tower was originally used as a water tank to supply the town during dry seasons and to provide water in case of fire. The clock tower was also used to keep time for the local community.
Standing at 25.5 meters (84 feet) tall, the tower has eight levels—though from the outside, it appears to have more due to its tiered, Chinese-inspired design. Its tilt is due to the soft ground on one side and the weight of the water tank at the top, giving it its iconic slant.

Old school cheecheongfun in Teluk Intan
#springitinerary
Liew Kee (Ah Lek) Chee Cheong Fun in Teluk Intan, Perak, is a culinary institution renowned for its distinctive take on this classic dish. Established decades ago, the eatery has become a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists seeking authentic flavors.
Unlike typical versions, Liew Kee’s chee cheong fun is served without any sauce, allowing the flavors of its fillings—stewed turnip (sengkuang), dried shrimp, and shallots—to shine. The rice noodle rolls are steamed to a soft yet slightly chewy texture and are accompanied by pickled green chilies for added zest.

eat love pray in hometown
Teluk Intan is my hometown.
It is the centre of Hilir Perak district and the third largest town of Perak state. Although the name means "Diamond Bay", the town is not located near a bay. It is founded around the oxbow meander of the Perak River, making the town look like near a bay. The locals believe that in the future, the river's flow will erode the narrow neck of the land between the loops of the meander and turn the town into an island.
