On May 11, I went to Guilin Longji Scenic Area, which is a national 4A tourist scenic area. It is the largest terraced field in Guilin. Guilin has magical places but my favourite was Longsheng Rice Terraces, also known as Longji Rice Terraces. This place offers amazing landscapes which can be visited all year long as it changes completely according to the season. if you want to see the rice fields in golden shades as my pictures then it is recommended to go during autumn. on our trip to Yangshuo for 3 days , we planned to visit one of the most popular destinations in Guilin the Longsheng rice terraces , it is 3 hours away a from Yangshuo so usually people self drive or book cabs and stay the night at the beautiful hotels , we had to travel back to Yangshuo as everything was closed and completely barren and deserted due to the travel restrictions and covid situation in shanghai literally not a single tourist in sight , though it lets us soak in the beauty of this place in full capacity , you can’t stop thinking about the people who lost business while walking past the closed hotels , restaurants covered in dust and barely any locals around. we wanted to meet and learn more about the ethnic groups of this region but couldn’t as the circumstances didn’t permit.

As soon as we landed in Guilin we took a didi to the ticketing office, from there we were to take bus, one of the craziest bus rides I've ever experienced, often hanging over edge cliffs and the local ethnic groups getting on and off the bus, this.. was for locals. The bus dropped us off at a terminal, where we were given the option of a taxi or a chair lift, we opted chair lift and I'm happy about that decision. You get a 360 degree uninterrupted view of the rice terrace appearing from no where, truly a beautiful sight. At the top you can walk around and look at the sheer vastness of this man made creation, how amazinf rhe irrigation must be, and there's also shops and small food stalls too. It takes about 2+ hours car ride from Guilin to Longji Terrace Fields. As private cars are not allow in the mountain, one will need to take the shuttle bus which cost RMB25 to the Longji Terrace Fields. The drop off point is at the viewing deck of Nine Dragons and Five Tigers. From here, you will be able to capture the entire terrace fields and the Pingan village on camera. Longji Terrace Fields certainly warrant to be one of the best scenic sights in China. It’s a breathtaking views from here as the fields resemble the vertical stripes of tigers. Hike down to the Pingan Village to catch a glimpse of the Zhuang ethnic minority. In the village, there are several inns or hotels available if one choose to spend the night. Continue to follow the directional signs (available in English) to the Seven Stars Accompany the Moon, a viewing deck to capture another angle of the terrace fields. The weather was gloomy and it started to rain. The cloud slowly drifting in covering the entire terrace fields and mountains creating a mystical picture perfect moments. If you are visiting Guilin or Yangshuo, Longji Terrace fields is definitely a must visit. They are located 2.5 hours bus ride away from Guilin, Guangxi province. Transportation are well organized. You have organized tours and buses that are departing several times a day usually in front of Hong Kong hotel. Also depends to which village you go. Tickets you can book and pay at your hotel. Bus will drop you off at Dazhai Village and from there you have around 1 hour hike through the fields until you reach your hotel. Also you will pass by couple of small villages on the road. The hike is absolutely the best part of the trip. Once you come at the top you have several view points from where you can watch the fields. During summer they are all green, so if you wanna see them while they are yellow, than definitely come in autumn. Our favorite one is “Thousand Layers to Heaven “. You also have a cable car that can take you up to the top of the fields. This is definitely a perfect spot for a getaway to nature, to enjoy beautiful panoramic views, sounds of nature and silence. While visiting to Huangluo yao village you can see this small market 🧣. Here you can see the villagers dressed up in traditional outfit 🧥. It's not as big and with different varieties like other markets but we can enjoy there traditional items and there handcrafted pieces 👑👘. During your visit to Longji rice terrace it is better to take ropeway to the scenic spot than taking back 🚠. One way ticket is 60 RMB and two way is 100 RMB 💴. Climbing down the hill is not that difficult and with 1 and half hour you can reach down. Longji Rice Terraces in Guilin were beyond beautiful. I’d never seen rice terraces before so I was grateful when our hotel hooked us up with a great deal. We were travelling from Yangshuo so the ride was about 3 hours one way and 3 hours back....yikes. But I definitely think it was worth it! absolutely stunning!
