It is said that Khru Ba Khao Pi, the best disciple of Khru Ba Srivichai, the saint of Lanna Thailand, after suffering a fate from the government, was forced to disrobe and imprisoned for 6 months. When released, Kruba Sriwichai then ordained himself as a monk again after Kruba Khaopi returned to the saffron robe. He stayed with Kruba Sriwichai for 1 Lent. Once, he headed to Mae Sot, traveling through the forests and mountains for 4 nights and 4 days. He reached Mae Ramat and began to build many permanent structures. From the age of 36 to 42, during that time, according to the history of Kruba Khaopi, who was on a pilgrimage in Mae Ramat District, Tak Province, he built many permanent structures. The local people, including Thais, Karens, and Burmese, highly respected him. In 1922, Kruba Khaopi, along with Khun Ramat Maitri and the people of Mae Ramat, jointly invited the “Marble Buddha”, which was a Buddha statue carved from a single piece of marble. It was a sculpture by Burmese craftsmen, Buddhists of Mae Ramat. It was brought from Yangon, Burma at a price of 88 rupees by boat and cart and enshrined in the temple of Wat Don Kaew, Mae Ramat District, Tak Province, for more than 12 days.
On a holiday and a Buddhist holy day like this, don't forget to make merit.
