At the end of the Chinese Civil War, part of the Kuomintang's 93rd Division retreated here and has been settled here ever since. Many local people are their descendants. In addition to Chinese, the locals can also speak Yunnan dialect and Thai, and the cuisine is mostly Yunnan style. Tea planting and tourism are the main industries here. The altitude is about 700-1,300 meters. Many homestays are quite similar to Cingjing in Nantou, and there are Chinese signs everywhere, which once made people think they had come to Taiwan! If you are traveling to Chiang Rai, you can charter a car to come here and stay for one night before going back.

Phra Borommathat Chedi Srinakarindra Sathit Maha Santikiri
Phra Borommathat Chedi Srinakarindra Sathit Maha Santikiri is located on the top of Doi Mae Salong, 1,500 meters above sea level. It is a modified Lanna style pagoda designed by M.R. Mitrarun Kasemsri, architect of the Royal Palace Office, adapted from Phra That Kopaka, Wat Pa Sak, Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province. It is divided into 3 floors. The first floor enshrines a life-size bronze statue of Somdej Ya, dressed in full regalia, in a royal seated position. #Chiang Rai

There is a cafe, snacks, tea, coffee and accommodation.
In the middle of the tea plantation, there are many facilities.
There is no air conditioning because the weather is cool and comfortable.
There are private bathrooms and hot water.
.... If you don't stay, you can stop by for a drink or snack. Take pictures at a cool angle. The view is very beautiful.

Best tea and scenery in Mar Salong
There are a variety of tea plantations a short drive from either Chiang Mai or in Chiang Rai province in Thailand and up in the cooler mountain ranges where many of the hill tribes live and also work in these plantations. All the tea plantations here grow and process the popular Thai Oolong, black, green and white teas. There are a few of the plantations that are open to the public for tours and tastings.
Some of the well known in this region includes: Doi Chai Tea which is one of my favorite, Raming Tea Co. Ltd, Araksa and a variety of small tea operations around the hills of Mae Salong. One of the nicest and larger tea plantations about an hour north of Chiang Mai is the Araksa Tea Plantation, which you can tour and also stay overnight which will be absolutely lovely for serenity.
