Chasing cherry blossom at Doi Inthanon 🌸
Who thought one of the places to find cherry blossom is at the highest mountain in Thailand? Normally cherry blossom viewing is organised by a tour group but instead of joining them I chose to rent a car instead to save cost.
The journey took almost 3 hours ride from our hotel in Chiang Mai and we arrived quite early but there is literally nobody waiting at the entrance so we paid 0 entrance fee bcs the cherry blossom season has ended so lucky us? 😅
We arrived at the end of January early Feb but I can say peak bloom is definitely in the mid of January. The flower is still there but it is wilting.
The exact location is Mae Win,Mae Wang, Chiang Mai Municipality, Chiang Mai Province and you can search google map here https://maps.app.goo.gl/2gbHVHQxxY9TsyTV6

Wat Luang Khun Win, over 700 years old
#NewYearNewTrip
Wat Luang Khun Win is located in Mae Wang District, Chiang Mai Province. It is an ancient temple that is over 700 years old, hidden in the middle of the forest, creating a shady and peaceful atmosphere, suitable for those who want to find peace and experience nature. This temple is famous for its beautiful ancient Lanna architecture, with an intricately carved chapel and Buddha statues, combined with the lush greenery of the forest, giving the temple a peaceful and inviting atmosphere.
Getting there:
Traveling to Wat Luang Khun Win is quite challenging, as it is located in the middle of the forest and the path is quite steep and winding. Those who want to visit should use a car with good performance and should check the weather conditions before traveling for safety.
Interesting activities:
-See ancient Lanna architecture
-Hike and experience nature
-Meditation and making merit in a peaceful atmosphere
For those interested in visiting Wat Luang Khun Win, you should prepare and plan your trip carefully, as the route is quite challenging. For those who do not want to drive up the mountain, it is recommended to hire a car with a driver. However, the beauty and tranquility of this temple will be a worthwhile experience. For anyone visiting Chiang Mai, I recommend it.

Khun Wang Sakura Bridge, Doi Inthanon🌸💘
#tripflyingtoprayfornewyear
🌸Khunwangsakurabridge is located next to the Inthanon Lady Slipper Orchid Conservation Project under the royal initiative in the northern region (Doi Inthanon), about 4 kilometers away.
💘There is an entrance fee of 40 baht per person, but I assure you that it is definitely worth it because there are a lot of blooming Himalayan cherry blossoms here. You can choose a photo spot. There are so many angles. If you are looking for Thai cherry blossoms, we recommend this place. You can also pitch a tent, but we really don't know the price.

Let's hunt for Thai Sakura at Sakura Tunnel 🌸
At the beginning of the year, the weather is cold like this. It's time to go up north.
And during this period, many places in the North are blooming with the Himalayan cherry blossoms.
It's time for everyone to prepare to hunt for Thai cherry blossoms.
Actually, the Himalayan cherry blossoms 🌸 are in many places.
In this picture, we went to the "Sakura Tunnel". It's very beautiful.
It's a pink tunnel with cool weather. It's fun to walk and take pictures.

Sakura Khun Wang Bridge
Sakura Bridge Khun Wang is located on the same route as the viewpoint of the Himalayan cherry blossoms at the Khun Wang Royal Agricultural Research Station. It is located first. The highlight is the garden decoration that has a Japanese atmosphere. There is a wooden bridge crossing the stream among the pink Himalayan cherry blossoms. There are also photo spots at various points, both the viewing terrace and the flower garden on the hill, where you can see the two limestone rocks of Pha Song Ru Du standing tall as a backdrop.

Wat Luang Khun Win, Chiang Mai
Wat Luang Khun Win, a beautiful and ancient temple in Chiang Mai, in the middle of the forest, magnificent wood art, extremely unseen
The history of this temple is that it is said that the Lord Buddha once visited the area where Wat Luang Khun Win is located. It is said that there were two Lawa people, Khun Sap and Khun Sa Meuang, who asked for hair relics. The Lord Buddha granted them and built a pagoda to cover it on a low peak called Phra That Mon Pia.
Highlights of Wat Luang Khun Win
However, because Wat Luang Khun Win is a temple far from the community, there is no electricity, only solar power, and there is no good road to the temple, making it difficult to access. Therefore, there are not many tourists traveling here. However, there are many beautiful buildings inside the temple, such as the standing Buddha chapel (the glass walking meditation posture), the reclining Buddha chapel (the parinirvana posture), which is a carved wooden Buddha statue, and the Naga stairs, etc.

Doi Sappanyu Temple
Wat Doi Sappanyu, Chiang Mai Province
There is Phra Phuttha Chatumongkhon, the Buddha statue in 4 directions, or Lanna people often call it the 4 Buddhas (the word “Phra Chao” means Buddha statues). It is a standing Buddha statue facing 4 different directions with its back to each other, enshrined on a high and prominent base.
Wat Doi Sappanyu was originally an abandoned temple called Wat Nam Bo Tip, which can be translated as the well of holy water.

See the hydrangea fields, Khun Phae, Chiang Mai
#WinterMountainTravel
Thinking about traveling, thinking about cold weather, thinking about flower fields
Let's take a look at the hydrangea fields in Khun Pae, Chiang Mai.
We traveled by private car to connect to a local car to go to the flower garden. We do not recommend driving to the garden by yourself because the road is quite narrow.
When we went, the hydrangeas were in full bloom in the fields. The weather was bright and the sky was clear. It was a great place to take pictures.
On the way, the local car that we went with was kind enough to stop and let us see the view of the rice terraces.

It was my
It was my first time to bring my young children to Chiang Mai. I was worried about the hygiene and food, but when I went there again after 10 years, I found that many large shopping malls and many recreational facilities had been built. The whole community is full of trendy and hipster atmosphere.
Among them, the Elephant Kiss is worth recommending. The accommodation environment is good, with independent cottages. There is a restaurant in the park, and the price is affordable. You can choose to shower the elephants, play bamboo rafts, and wake up the elephants in the morning. It can add another kind of experience to children living in the city.
The daytime and night markets are also unique. Children can print by themselves, and parents can massage on the other side. Adults and children can eat and buy non-stop.
The zoo at night is also worth visiting. Children can sit in the viewing car and feed the animals, which is very interesting.

Best Elephant Sanctuary in Thailand
Changchill is the most incredible elephant sanctuary and you need to visit it! It’s an ethical sanctuary, which has rescued elephants from wood logging and circus. You can’t touch the elephant or ride them or feed them. You can only observe them from afar. You can also help with the feeding process by preparing the sugar canes. You then watch the elephants come at their own accord to get their daily sugar dose. The whole experience is lovely.

🐘 Morning Trumpets & Mud Baths – Life at Chai Lai Orchid 🌿
One of the absolute highlights of our trip: staying at Chai Lai Orchid near Chiang Mai. It’s more than just a place to sleep – it’s a sanctuary where rescued elephants roam freely, and guests get to be part of their world for a little while.
Waking up to elephants wandering past your balcony is a surreal and beautiful thing. They even pop by at breakfast – gently (and sometimes not-so-gently!) reminding you they’d like a banana or two.
We got to bathe the elephants in the river, which was as joyful and muddy as it sounds – such a calm, grounding experience. And the star of the show? A 5-month-old baby elephant, already cheeky, full of energy, and unbelievably strong. He kept headbutting us like a playful puppy that doesn’t know its own strength. Absolutely hilarious – and unforgettable.
Chai Lai is doing amazing work for both elephants and the local community. If you’re in northern Thailand and want an experience that’s ethical, heartwarming and wildly fun – go. You won’t forget it.

🇹🇭Kerchor Elephant Conservation Park, Chiang Mai, Thailand🐘✨An elephant-friendly environment without forcing
#AprilGoodDestinations2025
This time we went to Kerchor Elephant Park in the suburbs of Chiang Mai.
Buy a half-day trip. It takes about 1 hour from the ancient city to the destination.
Once you arrive, the staff will give you clothes to change into. There are also lockers for you to put your things.
Next, we will explain some little knowledge about elephants and everyone can get a bucket of snacks to interact with the elephants
The elephants are super cute. I was a little scared at first, but they are actually very friendly. The elephant handlers will also guide you to interact with the elephants.
You can touch the elephants and baby elephants, but you can't feed the baby elephants. Please be careful.
The staff are very friendly and will help take photos.
The next step is to walk with the elephants in the forest and observe their daily life.
There are big trees in the woods to provide shade and it won't be too hot. It feels very comfortable to be close to nature.
Finally, we rinsed the elephants and took a bath with them.
The elephant handlers will also check the elephants' condition and will not force them into the water. I think that's great💗
The staff can speak English and Chinese, so you don't have to worry about language problems. They are happy to answer any questions you have.

Sakura blossoms at Khun Wang
Khun Wang is one of the most beautiful spots to admire sakura in Thailand. During the winter months, typically from January to February, visitors can experience the soft pink petals of sakura blooming magnificently across the area. The atmosphere around Khun Wang is serene and peaceful, surrounded by the natural beauty of mountains and forests, offering a truly relaxing and authentic nature experience.
One of the most impressive sights is the morning sea of mist covering the mountains, perfectly complementing the beauty of the sakura. Additionally, there are nature trails for visitors to explore the surroundings up close, along with viewpoints and small, cozy restaurants. It's an ideal destination for relaxation and capturing memorable photographs.
Tips for visiting Khun Wang to see sakura:
- Visit in the morning to avoid crowds and fully enjoy the sea of mist.
- Bring a camera and warm clothing, as the weather is quite chilly during winter.
- Check the weather forecast in advance, as rain or thick fog might obscure the view of the sakura.

Visit a serene temple nestled in the forest
🏡 Wat Luang Khun Win is an ancient temple that was abandoned for nearly 700 years after the Burmese invasion of Chiang Mai. In 1954, Kruba Oonruen Suphatto, a disciple of Kruba Sriwichai, restored the temple to its former glory.
🙏 Legend has it that the Buddha once visited this area and met two Lua people, Khun Saap and Khun Saraming, who requested a hair relic for worship. They then built a stupa to enshrine the relic on a low hill, now known as Phra That Mon Pia.
⛰ The temple is located deep in the forest, far from any community, surrounded by lush greenery and various bird species. It remains pristine and untouched, relying solely on solar energy as there is no electricity or running water. Access to the temple is challenging, so it is recommended to use local transportation services.
🏕 Wat Luang Khun Win boasts stunning Lanna-style architecture amidst the cool and tranquil forest atmosphere. It serves as a residence for monks and novices and a meditation retreat for lay practitioners.
Key attractions within the temple include:
🏠 A wooden ordination hall housing a 9-meter-tall standing Buddha statue in the "Walking Meditation" posture. This is the world's largest carved wooden Buddha statue, made from a giant tree that died standing.
⛺ Another ordination hall featuring a reclining Buddha in the "Parinirvana" posture and several other carved wooden Buddha statues.
🛖 Various monk residences and pavilions.
🧱 A gracefully designed Naga staircase in traditional Lanna art style.
🛕 A stupa enshrining the Buddha's hair relic.
