Strolling at Man Daeng Waterfall, Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park
Camping under the stars at Man Khao with beautiful views along the way.
Man Daeng Waterfall, Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park, is located at the end of Man Khao village. It's not far, just a short walk with leeches and photo opportunities along the way. There are dragon tongue flowers here (many in the group might have been here and know about them). However, these flowers bloom around August to September. At the end of September, you might find 2-3 flowers in small patches, but they are not very beautiful as they are withering away. Man Daeng has 32 levels, but only 8 levels are open for walking. Don't be greedy and walk too much; let nature be. The remaining forest is a closed, fertile forest preserved as a watershed.
Don't worry about not encountering leeches here because there are plenty. They appear as soon as you stop, and they are quite large. The green leeches are beautiful. Personally, I find them cute when they stretch. I call them 'Taki'. After the waterfall walk, you can change clothes at the Border Patrol Police School in Man Khao, set up a tent, and stargaze. It's very enjoyable. Popping popcorn adds to the fun.
The weather there is mountainous. It's hot and windy during the day and very cold at night, even if it's not winter. If you go during this time, you'll enjoy it. There is also a sea of mist, beautiful green mountains, and the waterfall is as misty as in the pictures.
Oh, I wanted to see the dragon tongue flowers too, but I had to participate in volunteer activities during this time. We had to build a playground, paint classrooms, provide food, and donate items, so I missed the chance to see the flowers. I was disappointed because when I went to survey in July, the flowers hadn't bloomed yet. Maybe next year.
Lastly, if you go via Thap Boek, the road is under construction where it has subsided. Only one lane is usable. Low cars and sedans should avoid it to prevent damage. Other vehicles can go, but be careful. The fog is very thick at night and in the morning. It's hot at noon, but the wind is cool.
P.S. Don't comment on my hiking outfit. I forgot to bring pants, so it was more colorful than I could describe. 5555
