#celebratewithtrip Lugano is in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, in the gorgeous canton of Ticino. Our experience in Lugano was walking along the waterfront into the Old Town. The views were spectacular. The Old Town of Lugano is a very intimate part of the city. There are lovely shops, restaurants and places to stay. We also visited the cathedral, which is directly across from the train station, is absolutely gorgeous, inside and out! We then explored the Lake Lugano, which is the ultimate highlight and the main attraction in Lugano. Who can resist swooning at lake views like this? Even if you never even go on the water, just looking at this gorgeous lake is better than therapy! The view here is spectacular! The lake is surrounded by mountains perched with houses and interesting boundary of Italy and Switzerland. If you’re wondering what to see in Lugano in one day, then the lake is an absolute must. We might not spent that much time in Lugano, but I believe that there's more to see in this beautiful place. Morcote is a quiet town with few residents and visitors, exuding a serene charm. Wandering through its narrow alleys and slopes, you'll find some homes and artisan shops. However, these houses seem to exist peacefully in their own tranquil space. If you visit on a sunny day, you can climb the 404 steps to the hilltop church in Morcote and enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Lugano. For those with strong stamina, you can ascend to the 475-meter-high 12th-century castle for an even more breathtaking view! Don't forget, while you're in Lugano, grab a boat ticket to cruise the lake and experience a different perspective compared to viewing it from above!

Head to the top and you’ll get a breathtaking panoramic view of Lake Lugano — absolutely worth it. 🏞️ Coming down, I recommend walking back to town along the lakeside. It’s one of the most beautiful and peaceful walks I’ve had — glistening water, swans, cozy benches, and mountain views. 🥐 Thanks to its proximity to Italy, the food here is surprisingly good too — very Italian-Swiss fusion. I happened to visit on Ascension Day, so many shops were closed... but I still had such a lovely, slow-paced day. 📍 To return to Milan, the main Lugano train station is uphill in the city center — a short walk or bus ride away.
