As we were driving by, the sight of elephants caught our eye, compelling us to explore closer. This decision led us to one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. Upon arrival, we were greeted by several beautiful and evidently happy elephants, including an adorable baby elephant that quickly became the highlight of our visit. The sanctuary provides a peaceful and loving environment for these magnificent creatures, a stark contrast to the exploitative venues that are unfortunately all too common. What makes this place even more special is the opportunity to visit around 6pm, after regular hours, when the elephants are enjoying their meals. Watching them in such a relaxed and natural state was truly a privilege. Additionally, for only 200 baht, we were able to purchase a basket of bananas to feed the elephants, which was not only a fun activity but also a way to connect with these gentle giants on a personal level. The Ao Nang Elephant Sanctuary is a testament to the beauty of compassionate and ethical animal tourism. It provides a safe haven for elephants to live in peace and dignity. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this sanctuary to anyone in Krabi. It’s not just an opportunity to see these incredible animals up close but also a chance to support a place that prioritizes their well-being and happiness.

One of the highlights of our trip in Krabi was visiting the Elephant Sanctuary. We decided to visit Ao Nang Elephant Sanctuary, and we had an incredible experience there. From the moment we arrived, the staff warmly welcomed us and provided informative insights into their elephant conservation efforts. We felt a genuine sense of care and dedication towards the elephants, witnessing their well-being as the top priority. The activity started with feeding them their favourite foods, such as bananas and sugar cane. We learned to make a healthy food supplement and then gave them a refreshing mud bath in the river. It was absolutely the best experience to be able to interact and get close to the elephants. We enjoyed playing with those beautiful creatures; they were super gentle and even let us touch and hug them. It was undoubtedly an unforgettable memory that was worth every penny.
