Ao Nang Elephant Sanctuary
#krabitrip
Our visit to the Ao Nang Elephant Sanctuary in Krabi was a heartwarming experience that began entirely by chance. As we were driving by, the sight of elephants caught our eye, compelling us to explore closer. This decision led us to one of the most memorable experiences of our trip.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by several beautiful and evidently happy elephants, including an adorable baby elephant that quickly became the highlight of our visit. The sanctuary provides a peaceful and loving environment for these magnificent creatures, a stark contrast to the exploitative venues that are unfortunately all too common.
What makes this place even more special is the opportunity to visit around 6pm, after regular hours, when the elephants are enjoying their meals. Watching them in such a relaxed and natural state was truly a privilege. Additionally, for only 200 baht, we were able to purchase a basket of bananas to feed the elephants, which was not only a fun activity but also a way to connect with these gentle giants on a personal level.
The Ao Nang Elephant Sanctuary is a testament to the beauty of compassionate and ethical animal tourism. It provides a safe haven for elephants to live in peace and dignity. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this sanctuary to anyone in Krabi. It’s not just an opportunity to see these incredible animals up close but also a chance to support a place that prioritizes their well-being and happiness.
