When you arrive at Baan Bangkhen (บ้านบางเขน), you can already feel the strong nostalgic atmosphere outside the gate. The exterior looks like an ordinary traditional Thai house, but inside is a nostalgic park, a cola museum, a reading room, a cafe, and a restaurant.
The location of Baan Bangkhen is not very convenient. If you go from the city, take the MRT to Phahon Yothin Station and then take a taxi, which will take about 20 minutes. It takes about ten minutes to get there by taxi from the old airport (DMK, Don Muang Airport).
You need to buy a ticket to enter Baan Bangkhen, and the ticket price is only 20 baht, and the ticket can be used directly as a credit at the restaurant inside. The tree house and classic car you just entered are great for taking photos, and it is a popular check-in spot. There are also nostalgic paintings on the brick walls of the park, some of which are interactive check-ins.
What is certain is that the owner of Baan Bangkhen has two favorites. The first is King Rama IX. There is a small house in the park that is used to collect photos and collections of King Rama IX. There is also Coca-Cola, especially the nostalgic one, which Nick likes very much!
The two-storey building is known as the largest Coca-Cola Museum in Asia. Collections from different eras are gathered together here. Many of the collections I have seen when I was a child, so it feels very familiar! On the other side is the nostalgic shopping street park, which feels like walking into a time tunnel.
The café at Baan Bangkhen has an American nostalgic style, with motorcycles and oil pumps serving as decorations. The sofa seat is very private and looks very comfortable. This is a self-service ordering place, and you can pick it up at the counter after it is ready. By the way, they also make the food here, it tastes good and the price is quite affordable!
Raw shrimp sashimi (90 baht)
90 baht for 6 pieces, and they are quite fresh.
Thai style green papaya salad (70 baht)
This dish is huge and quite spicy...
Fried chicken rice noodles with soy sauce (70 baht)
Thai rice noodles with a soft texture
Thai seafood vermicelli soup (80 baht)
It tastes good, and it's 80 baht for such a big pot...
Each dish costs no more than 100 baht, so four dishes, plus two cans of Coke, only cost 320 baht in total. It has air conditioning and a comfortable environment. How can you say it’s not great value?
