Hi every
Hi everyone. I've returned from my two week trip to Thailand. Had an absolute ball. Thank you so much to everyone on the forum who answered my questions (silly or otherwise) and who asked and answered questions also. I learned a LOT prior to my trip.
Firstly, a general background. This was my first overseas trip (I don't like flying), it was for my 40th birthday, and I travelled with my mother (63 years). My father does not travel and mum has run out of travelling partners.
Day 1
Arrived Bangkok. Had no problems finding where to get cab on the first floor, no problems with the cab driver. Thanks to the advice from Trip Advisor!
We were staying at Citrus, Soi 22 Sukhumvit. This hotel was great, although doesn't look as chic and boutique as in the photos on the internet. Nevertheless, the breakfast was great, staff helpful. I did not travel with my laptop, and they have a laptop in the foyer that can be used in the restaurant. Free wi-fi. Great room service. Excellent, friendly staff who help to get cabs, etc.
We took a walk up and down Sukhumvit Road and shook out the flying cramps. Partook in a fish pedicure and foot massage at Phunnee Massage. I loved it here, I took a great liking to the name of it. :P
That night, we went to Cabbages and Condoms (by tuk tuk) for dinner. Nice meal, great surroundings, nice easy introduction into what was going to be a tiring holiday.
Day 2
I had a laser whitening appointment at Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic and consultation to close the gaps on top and bottom rows. I found them very professional and explained my options very clearly. I decided on what I was going to do, and made an appointment for a few days after.
We visited MBK in the afternoon and were very awed by the goings on there. Very busy, lots of people. I loved it. Lots of shopping potential, which we took advantage of.
That night, we visited the Siam Niramit show. Unfortunately, we did have a problem with the cab driver on this occasion. We told the guy at the hotel where we were off to, he told the cab driver, who nodded, and off we went. We drove around for an hour, before we finally started to realise that the driver had no idea where we were going, and we were having problems understanding each other. After numerous stops at 7 Eleven's, the driver finally took us back to the hotel (which we had been requesting for the half hour before). The poor guy, I do realise he was only trying to help us
when we all realised he didn't actually know what was going on, and couldn't understand us. Anyway, finally got back to the hotel, ran upstairs to the reception to try to sort it out. We were half an hour's drive away from the show, which was to start in 15 minutes. Reception were #skiaenture great and called the show to explain, and they told us that as long as we were there in 20 minutes, they would still let us in.
The guy who got the cab in the first place was great, and let the next cab driver know what was going on, and the urg
