2025 Pai Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in March)
Located about 50 miles (80km) north of Chiang Mai, Pai is a small town that has become a popular destination for backpackers due to its chilled-out vibe and its easy access to explore Thailand's northern jungles. What was once a small Shan market town now primarily lives off tourism, and the town's streets are lined with tourist shops and restaurants catering to foreign visitors. From Pai, there is very easy access to a number of elephant camps, waterfalls, and natural hot springs. Its proximity to the mountains makes it a great jumping off point for trekking excursions, where you can visit villages of various hill tribes, including the Karen, Hmong, Lisu and Lahu people. While Pai no longer feels undiscovered, traces of the traditional culture continue to exist, especially at the popular Wednesday market.

Accommodation amidst mountains, flower gardens and mist.
#Nature attractions
There is accommodation in #Pai, Mae Hong Son Province, which I visited in early November. I would like to recommend this accommodation.
#Pha Long Dao Accommodation | Flower Garden | Mist
The accommodation is located in Santichon Village, near the fog viewpoint where many people who visit Pai will come up to see the fog in this area.
The room is spacious, with a large bed and complete amenities. The bathroom has a water heater.
In addition to staying here, it is like visiting a large flower garden in front of the accommodation (Chiu Yu Farm). You will definitely have beautiful pictures with the flower garden to take home.
In addition to the large flower garden, this place is also outstanding with a swimming pool in the middle of the valley. You can swim and enjoy the view of the flower garden.
That's not all, this place also has a restaurant and a cafe.
The food here is in Thai-Yunnan style. For dinner, I ate here with a set of pork fondue. They gave a lot of it. I sat and ate in the restaurant and cafe area. I looked down and saw the view of the flower garden. It was another beautiful corner.
I woke up as expected. I found fog all over the accommodation. The air was quite cool.
For anyone who visits Pai And if you want to come up and stay with this kind of accommodation atmosphere, come stay at Pha Long Dao.

The Village in the Mist of Pai
‘Santichon Village’ is a small village in Pai district that has been influenced by the culture of Yunnan Chinese who migrated during the Chinese revolution in 1950. At first glance, it resembles Rak Thai Village, but it scores higher in terms of tranquility and numerous photo spots. These include unique orange clay houses, towering gray brick fortresses, woven wooden bridges, and expansive ponds. There are also shops selling tea, tribal costumes, souvenirs, and more.
Don't miss trying Yunnan-style food here. Any random restaurant you pick is guaranteed to be delicious as the recipes are quite similar. We tried eating at ‘Mittraphap Pai’ restaurant, and the must-try dish is the intensely flavored pork leg. When eaten with mantou, it blends perfectly. The serving size is large enough for 2-3 people. The vegetable dishes are also fresh and sweet as if they were just picked from the farm. It's an extremely satisfying breakfast.
Peaceful Pai Scenery
Traveler's Grave Pai, Hippie Paradise Pai.
Anyone who comes here can relax and feel at ease.
During sunset time, all the travelers in town gather at the sunset spot.
When you come to Pai, make sure to visit Two Hearts Cafe.
It operates from 10 AM to 9 PM, but everyone leaves after sunset.

Drive to Pai, a small town in the mist
……………………………………….
Have you ever asked yourself how much you know about Pai District? If you only know it briefly or have only traveled there, we are friends. Today, I will take everyone to get to know Pai, with a local who will take you on a tour for real, until you have to change your feeling about this district. Let me tell you that before, I thought that Pai was nothing. I only knew it briefly from a movie, or I knew it because I had to drive to Mae Hong Son and passed by here. But this time, I will erase that feeling from my memory because Pai, this name is really good.
On this trip, my friends and I drove from Chiang Mai to stay in Pai for one night. We had a local who welcomed us very well. If anyone is interested in tour services, you can contact BIG BUDDY or call 0979196992. There are hiking, camping, boating, and ATV riding. I guarantee that you will be able to travel to Pai in an unseen way.

The city Pai 🇹🇭
#thailandtrip
This is a mountain town located near the Chiang Mai province in Thailand 🇹🇭 .You can still go around the town on a motorcycle.
The name of the city is called Pai. If you take a small car from the Chiang Mai bus terminal, you only pay 150 baht. (I don't know if the price has changed now)
When I got there, I rented a small scooter and paid only 150 baht for the rental fee. Not busy with motorbikes, all tourists.
Feel the nature, farms and hills are the signature of Pai town.

Trekking Pai Canyon: A Thrilling Adventure in Thailand
#hikingtime
Pai Canyon, known locally as Kong Lan, offers one of the most exhilarating hiking experiences in Northern Thailand. With its stunning panoramic views, narrow trails, and dramatic landscapes, Pai Canyon is a must-visit for adventurers and nature lovers exploring the region.
Challenging Trails and Breathtaking Scenery
The trails at Pai Canyon are both challenging and rewarding. The paths are narrow, sometimes just a few feet wide, with steep drops on either side, which adds a thrilling element to the hike. As you navigate these ridges, you are treated to expansive views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, particularly mesmerizing at sunrise or sunset when the sky is painted in vibrant hues.
Ideal for Photography
Pai Canyon is a photographer's paradise. The unique terrain, characterized by deep reds and browns of the eroded soil, contrasts beautifully with the lush greenery that sprouts after the rainy season. The natural beauty and dramatic contours of the landscape provide endless opportunities for capturing stunning photographs that encapsulate the rugged charm of Northern Thailand.
Visitor Tips
- Safety First: The paths can be quite narrow and slippery, especially after rain. Wear sturdy footwear and proceed with caution.
- Visit at Golden Hour: For the best views and photography lighting, plan your hike around sunrise or sunset. The cooler temperatures during these times also make for a more comfortable trek.
- Bring Essentials: There are no facilities at Pai Canyon, so bring water, snacks, and sunscreen. A hat and sunglasses will also make your hike more comfortable.
Perfect Spot for a Sunset
Many visitors and locals flock to Pai Canyon to catch the sunset, which is nothing short of spectacular from this vantage point. The sun dipping below the horizon bathes the entire area in golden light, creating a magical atmosphere that's perfect for ending a day of exploration.

As for parking, if your car is not fast enough, there is a parking lot below the accommodation. For those who can handle it, you can park upstairs. The way up is quite steep. There is a parking lot. Sip tea, taste steamed buns, and watch the sea of mist at Yunlai.
The viewpoint is about 1 kilometer away from Santichon Village. The way up is quite steep and narrow. Some parts are divided into one-way routes. Most tourists gather in the early morning at Santichon Village to rent a car from the villagers to go up to see the sea of fog.
💰 Price 300 baht (can accommodate about 10 people)
👉🏻 Can I bring my own car up??: We rented a van to travel anyway. The driver is experienced and has often taken tourists up, so we didn't have to rent a car from the villagers. So we think that if you have been here before, you can drive up by yourself. But if you come by yourself, I recommend renting a car from the villagers for safety.
⭐️ Highlight: Sit and enjoy the morning view, watch the sea of fog, sip hot tea, eat steamed buns. The cool air is soooooo good.

🇹🇭The leisurely Pai County in northern Thailand
#Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand City Attractions #Thailand #Overseas Travel
Pai, located in the mountainous area of northern Thailand, is a well-known tourist town, famous for its many popular attractions and leisurely slow life. If you travel to Chiang Mai, you might as well spend two or three days visiting Pai.
It takes 3 hours to drive from Chiang Mai to Pai. The winding mountain road has many bends, so it will be a big challenge for those who are prone to motion sickness. Most people choose to go to Chiang Mai Bus Terminal to take a Mini Van, while some choose to rent a car and drive themselves. Pai's attractions are relatively scattered, so it is recommended to rent a motorcycle or join a tour group from Chiang Mai.
✅Popular attractions in Pai include: World War II Memorial, Big Tree, Inverted House, Coffee In Love, Strawberry Garden, Pai Canyon, Yunlai Observation Deck, etc.

It is not fancy, but the modest scenery
is a place that heals the mind,
so it was good to visit without burden during the Pai trip.

Reverie Siam Resort - A chic place to stay amidst greenery
#Rainy season destination
If you like collecting antiques, love vintage, and have a chance to visit Pai, you will definitely fall in love with this place like us. Reverie Siam Resort, a small resort on the banks of the Pai River, has a romantic atmosphere from the decoration in a vintage style almost throughout the resort. The atmosphere inside is private and quiet. Most importantly, it has been a successful marriage proposal place for many couples.
Reverie Siam Resort is located in the city of Pai, about 10 minutes from the walking street. It is a small boutique resort in a vintage style that combines Eastern and Western decorations perfectly. I must say that just walking into the resort is like we have been transported to ancient Europe, true to the name of the resort, Reverie Siam Resort, which means trance. Or in another way, when we walk into the resort, it is like falling into a trance that reminds us of the past.
As for the villas, they are large houses located at the very back near the Pai River. They are quieter and more private than other zones. The interior comes with complete facilities, but the special thing is the bathroom has a Jacuzzi that allows you to open the window to see the private garden view during the day. Or if at night you want to see the stars and moonlight while soaking in the water, you can just look up because the ceiling is made of clear glass. If you come as a couple, we recommend choosing a villa. #PaiMaeHongSon #MissNature #SecretLocation
