Puerto Rico's capital, San Juan, is a vibrant and culturally unique city with a rich history and cuisine. After nearly five years, this is my third visit to this charming island. However, this time I came mainly to board the limited cruise ship Norwegian Epic, which circumnavigates nearby islands before returning to New York. One of the best experiences on the cruise ship in the past was encountering soul-stirring music, and this time was no exception. On the first night, I was inadvertently drawn to Lucas' performance next to the bar. He used a loop station to record many tracks live, including rhythm instruments, wind instruments, string instruments, harmonies (even whistling and cup tapping), and created a band-like solo performance under the purple and red lights, which was deeply shocking. In close proximity, letting the feelings of the heart flow and linger in the time of a song, abandoning the imagination of reality, the fleeting and fleeting gaze, a few notes, perhaps the most eternal romance for me. Local specialties such as grilled pork chops, basil chicken rolls, and Empanadas are must-try dishes. In addition, local candies and drinks are also fantastic, such as Coquito and Pina Colada. 💵Ticket cost: In San Juan, many attractions require tickets. It is recommended to plan ahead and check which attractions require advance purchase or reservation before visiting. From hidden caves to bioluminescent bays, Puerto Rico wasn’t just a trip — it was a celebration of nature, culture, and joy that lingers long after leaving.

Castillo San Felipe del Morro is a must visit in San Juan , with breathtaking ocean views — especially at sunset. When you buy admission, you also get access to Castillo San Cristóbal, which you should definitely check out too — it’s a must-see. The walk between the two, no matter which way you go, is through Old San Juan, where there’s so much art, cool restaurants, and little surprises — I even saw a painted artistic basketball court on the way over. The strong sea breeze in front of the castle makes it a perfect spot for kite flying, and the sky is often filled with colorful kites. You self-explore the castle — the architecture is great, but honestly, the view and the wild proximity to the ocean are the main event. You can go many flights down — it’s super windy and insanely gorgeous. Watching the sunset in front of El Morro — words and pictures couldn’t capture it. Heads up: there are lots of stairs, and it’s a huge, multi-level fortress, so bring water and wear good walking shoes.

It was my first time going to San Juan Puerto Rico and I had the most amazing time visiting the big castle and visiting all the different beaches!! It was definitely a sight to see and i would go back again! It was so peaceful just laying around on the beach and also the different restaurants we went to, food was definitely great there and I can’t wait to visit again with my friend

This fortress was built in 1539 to monitor ships entering San Juan. In addition to monitoring ships, it also served to protect the city from Caribbean pirates and attacks and invasions from other countries, and it has been renovated and expanded over the course of about 200 years since its construction. The fortress, with an outer wall 40m above sea level and 6m thick, is equipped with over 400 cannons and was said to be impregnable at the time.
